Hi all,
I am looking for a cream a magic potion anything!!!! ANYTHING AT ALL which will reduce the appearance of my stretch marks. Had my little girl 4 years ago and they are bad I am pregnant at moment and touch wood don't seem to have any more but they just look bigger and more prominant obviously because I am due in 4 weeks and tummy is big. Have been using bio oil for the last year every night and recenly just strated usins a a stretch marks cream from body shop every morning. But am wondering if there is anything else out there that really does work. I had considered going for a tummy tuck but me and partner not finished family at moment so there would be no point in spending all that money for it to go back the same way. Please help

A friend of mines just gave birth last week and she uses pure shea butter

Bio oil is fab I swear by it and so does everyone else that I have spoken to that uses it.
My friends used something from Clarins but i'm not sure what it's called. It's for strech marks and she used it while being pregnant and didn't get one...bi*** lol

I use bio oil and naturderm epidermx cream. Bio oil is good as a preventative measure but the naturderm is fab stuff on stretch marks, in fact it's good for any type of scars.
Made my skin quite red the first couple of times i used it but it's really good!

My first baby left me with very bad stretch marks and bio oil hadn't been invented back then:confused:
What really faded mine of was getting a sun tan. They want from angry red to creamy white in just a couple of days and as my tan deepened the marks faded into the back ground.
While you are pregnant I think they always look worse anyway because the skin is so stretched out.
After you have baby, keep going with the bio oil and if you don't like the idea of a sun tan then why not get a spray tan? So long as you keep it topped up, you should find the marks will be covered very well.
Good luck with baby:hug:

other then the above, my advice is learn to love them! We might as well as no matter how we try to disguise them they will still be there at the end of the day!

Spiezia has a restorative body balm designed to minimise the appearance of stretch marks. Let me know if you want more details.
Congratulations on the new baby!

My second was 11 pounds.. she stretched me baaaad!!!

I use naturderm too and it is fab.. Just dont use it when sporting an enhanced tan.. (I ended up with a white belly)
During the winter months i use it religiously to fade and even out.. during summer I Shea Butter..

Judy.. GRRRRRRRRRR!!! My sister is similar.. not one stretch mark..

Stretch marks have no complete "CURE" as yet.. we can only maintain them and not worsen them.. so far a Tan is the best camoflague i have discovered.. and a Tan done just a bit deeper on affected areas works even better.

I embrace mine now.. I dont walk around in Bikini's nor do i flaunt them in midriff tops, but they are little gifts from my daughters and they have not stopped me feeling wonderful in my skin.. show me perfection and ill show you a flaw.. show me a flaw, and ill show you perfection.. No one is as hard on ourselves as we women are..

hth.

In some ways I think women don't embrace the naturalness of stretch marks enough. I got them during my 1st pregnancy, and with my 2nd they were BAD!!. My friends were shocked by the fact that I proudly took photos of myself! Why not, they're perfectly normal! It is genetic too and some people don't get them no matter what, why others do (my mum never got them).
Having said that I make a natural Stretch Mark Cream which I used during my last pregnancy and I did not get any stretch marks 3rd time round AND it made my old stretch marks look more faded. I tried bio-oil, vitamin E cream, Palmer's cocoa butter (during and after 1st & 2nd pregs & they did nothing for me)...
I would go with the shae butter as suggested and also try wheat germ oil. Both of those items will also help give your skin a slight tan/caramel colour which will also help disguise your stretch marks. :)

Iv never tied it but Strivectin SD is met to be amazing women were going that mad for it they were puttting it on their faces to help wrinkles. I know they sell it in Harvey Nichols as I used to work there but do a little research on it first as its quite pricey. HTH :)

I must admit though a tan does help x

Thanks for all your responses. I know a tan works lol as before I fell pregnant I was using sun beds once a week and this reduced the visibility of them significantly, I know sun beds are bad but they made me feel a bit better about myself. I do spray tanning and find this helps as a top coat whilst using beds to reduce them. I know some women say learn to love them and all that, I am very proud of my little girl and understand all this but that does not take the fact away that they are still horrible to look at. Think I might try Strivectin SD as has good reviews not to worried about price as I have spent a lot of money on past products and not much has helped. I have read lots and lots about stretch marks things saying it's because you lack in collagen you get stretch marks and have read other doctors views saying that it is not possible to put collagen back into the skin as it cannot be rubbed swallowed etc so there is no cure and what they sell in shops saying it puts collagen in skin is a sham? Does Any1 know much on this? I don't know am just going by what I have read.

Hello, congrats on your news again. Personally i am not a lover of bio oil; it didn’t work for my scares. I use palms scare serum which is a pump glass bottle. It’s amazing, it contains shark oil. you can buy it from boots, i used it for 3wks and my scares went down so fast. gud luck

Collagen is what gives our skin elasticity. Stretch marks occur because our skin dries out and loses it's elasticity as it stretches over baby bump. The main thing to do to try and prevent stretch marks is to keep your skin moisturised constantly during your pregnancy. For me to have 2 pregnancies with sever stretch marks then NOT get them for my third is practically a mirical. All because I applied cocoa butter every night before bed and every morning when I woke, & also massaged oil containing wheat germ oil onto my belly after a shower (I WISH i had known about this during my first 2 pregs!!). You will find that doing this keeps your belly moisturised - as well as cocoa butter & wheat germ oil containing natural ingredients that help combat scarring. Rose hip oil is another GREAT product for scar tissue (available at health stores).

Meaning no disrespect to beauty123, but products containing shark oil (which may be fantastic for the skin) promotes shark deaths... & I think that is a bit awful... poor sharks

Wheat germ oil, rose hip oil & cocoa butter are natural & available at your health food shop and no animals are harmed in order to make the product :green:

Vitamin A is the best for it. It is almost impossible to get rid of white marks, but you can make your skin looking better and much firmer using vit A and vit E. Make sure the products containing vitamin A are good quality. I love Environ, they have a few really good products to treat stretch marks. Hope it helps:hug:
