I am currently looking for a good quality skin care range that will supply to mobile therapist as this is how I think I might have to start initially (hopefully not too long though) until I have sufficient client base to rent a room which is how I would prefer to work. (or do you think its better to have a permanent base from the off and do lots of marketing - opinions on this would be really helpful)

The skin care ranges that I know about are:

Dermalogica - they do not do mobile accounts I spoke to a rep today
Environ
Swissdermyl
Susan Molyneux

any other ideas?

Do any of the one above supply to mobile therapists?

Sorry if this has been covered before

I use Moor Spa for my facials as mobile. They send very good size samples in reusable pots so I refill them when I need to and I don't have to lug big pots of stuff around. I also really like their packaging.

In terms of mobile versus renting a room I think perhaps that people who use mobile services don't want to go to a salon for varying reasons. Most of my clients are mothers and it saves them a babysitters fee and is more convienent for them, others of them don't have a car. I'm sure that if I rented a room somewhere I would get new clients but my current ones would still be mobile.

SwissDermyl are happy to supply to mobile therapists, sole traders and large salons alike. There is no minimum order, and they also have spread payments for new businesses so you can get up and running with the absolute minimum of cost.
Shame you're not closer to me; you could have come and had a facial with me to see how fab the brand is.

hey thanks for the offer :) Swissdermyl is on my serious contender list, I'm waiting for a information pack through the post, it does seem to have good reputation on here.

I'm seeing Andy on Wednesday - I'll hurry him along with the samples!

Hi, I am mobile and I use "Natural Elements". They are an organic range, and I use them myself - absolutely gorgeous. Minimum order is £50, no p and p over £100 - they have an excellent mark up on their products, and my clients buy loads and loads of products from me. Pipsx

Eve Taylor for me. Gogrgeous product, no minimum order and if you are going to retail, it's very reasonably priced too.

On the subject of room rent versus mobile, you dont have to travel and set up between clients so can fit more clients in per day. If you rent in a salon you will have access to the salon clients (bigger spenders) plus you still have "salon life" which I know some mobiles really miss. I would expect that room rent and petrol costs plus car costs are about the same. You should bear in mind that a lot of salon owners are tetchy about mobiles and not keen on having them in salon. (I know all the mobiles on this site will be in denial about this, but I promise you it is completely true)

Thank you this is really useful, I think I will rent a room but offer mobile appointments for people who cannot make it to the salon. I have been tending to sway to renting a room cos I really do not fancy lugging heavy equipment about, not really wanting a red exerted face there to greet client  I do reflexology and theres no way my "mobile" couch is mobile as far as I am concerned!!

thanks again

Eve Taylor, excellent products, gorgeous smells, clients love it and it's sensibly priced - clients don't feel ripped off and don't think twice about purchasing. Good luck!:)

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions, I think I am torn between Swissdermyl and Eve Taylor. I am waiting for my samples to arrive so that should help me decide.

I worked in a salon for three years and have now been mobile for over three. Mobile is more demanding but the benefits far out weight the extra work. I would never go back to a salon ever so I will never need to worry about how any miss guided thoughts on mobile therapists! I am sure at the end of the day if a mobile therapist is good they will not need to worry about this as they would only open their own salon not work for someone else!

Hi Annie23

Eve Taylor get my vote easily. No minimums, very natural, affordable, my clients swear by it. Give them as call they'll sort you out either mobile or salon. Good Luck to you.
