im new to spray tanning have had a few clients and family and done a big spray tan party but now its seems no one is interested! everyone has been happy with there tan so its not that i have done a bad job, just seems to be very quite at the mo. i have advertised but the phone is not ringing!!

just wondering from all your past experiences when does it pick up for the party season?....im getting a bit worried that my dream is not working out!

thanks in advance xx

things have been abit quiet recently but so far this week I have fonud it starting to pick back up,,,,,could you try to talk your family and friends into having there own spray parties?????

I have found things to be a little quiet recently, but have had loads of advance bookings this week for the run up to christmas and new year. Hoping it will continue to get busier lol. Should be picking up really soon x

I do spray tans and nails and now at college doing beauty and also work part time. I have wanted to give up the part time job and just do nails and tans but I cant as not enough work and I have to get an income from somewhere so I think it is just plod on and in the end you will get your dream just might take a little longer than you expected lol:)

Hi, I do all sorts of treatments and i have tried to get tanning off the ground with all kinds of different offers to no avail. However I live in a university town and have done 5 spray tans since yesterday which is unheard of for me, and it is all down to christmas parties and student balls. So I am very happy at the moment, but I dont know how long for.

I've actually been really busy with spray tans the last 2 weeks and have quite a few bookings already up to new year.
It was different when i first started though. You have to build up a client base first which takes time.
I would say over 75% of my clients are from recommendations.
Once word starts to get around you will see things start to pick up.
When i first started i was just doing the odd one here and there. Then i started getting a few regulars, then a few more. I have over 150 clients on my books now just for spray tanning, although obviously not all of them come on a regular basis.
If someone had told me i would have this many when i first started, i would have laughed at them.
It just takes time but Christmastime is the best time to gain new clients.
Maybe you could have a loyalty card. Give them a little stamp every time they have a tan and then give them a free one when their card is full. Or you could get them to say recommend 5 friends and they get a free tan. It gets them telling people then and hopefully you will soon be walking round with brown palms like me!

I'm sure it will pick up just stick with it hun! xx

I would say you can be as busy as you want to be at the moment, but the business won't come looking for you....you have to go find them!

Most of my new clients right now are not people who pick a card up in a hairdressers or see an advert....they are someone I have put the card in the hand of, and said, "come try it...you'll love it!" In fact better still, give them several cards and tell them to hand them out.

I recall a couple of years back, one girl saying she'd only ordered 250 business cards to keep her initial costs down, so she had to ben careful how many she gave out, so she didn't run out and then complaining why she didn't have any clients. I should imagine I hand out 250 cards a month....at least! I order in batches of 2500 (costs me roughly 2 clients) and I am always happy to pass them on to anyone.

I give them to girls on the supermarket checkout, in the petrol station, at the gym, etc.... No one minds if you smile sweetly and say "You look like someone who likes to look after them selves once in a while, so hopefully you don't mind if I give you this - its for my new business" and 99% of the time, they want to know more, and whilst they might not book there and then, I get a fair few follow up phone calls.

The business is out there.....go chase it!

I'm slow at the moment too, and spray tanning had completely died a death for me since about September this year!! I don't mind too much because I'm still seeing client for threading, pedicures, massage and the like, but spray tanning has never yielded a regular clientele for me. Where I am, it seems to be an occasional thing. So, people come for a tan when they have a soecial occasion and a bit of cash to splash, but I'm not in a part of the country where a tan is a must have accessory.

Having said that, I'm sure I could get more tanning clients if I pushed my advertising like the geek above me does! (Sorry, forgot your name while writing!!! lol ) I think you need to push push push with your advertising. "Big yourself up!!"

Good luck :)

I completely agree with you! Whenever I meet someone I always have to slip in the subject of my business into the conversation, and I have found that I can normally drum up some new business!

oh i almost forgot! i have been advertising on gumtree.com, not only is it free but I have had loads of replies from my ad! I would suggest that you put a link to your website on your ad and make it as eyecatching/interesting as possible.:green:
