Well i needed a little practice for my nvq so i thought id have a go on myself ( legs, chin, brows & lip)

I was told in collage that creme wax is lovely to work with ( i have only ever used the 1 like honey b4) so with that i took myself off to sallys and got some. i wasnt fussy with brand just got the cheapes there.

anyway cut a long story short - i always wax , sometimes i go have done and othertimes i just do myself. WELL this time i am in a right mess. ive grazed my upper lip, brusied my legs and have an extreemly red chin. I never ever go red. I have done nothing differnt than before. cleansed area with pre wax, applied in thin layers in directiojn of hair growth, taught skin when removing strip...... I know this may sound daft but it seemed to hurt alot more too. could this be the change in wax ???? or have i done something horribly wrong

I just dont get it i have never ever has this before - :(

pip x x x

Its difficult to say why maybe too cool ,so too thick, did you use a barrier between the skin oil or powder pref oil.
Some waxes also are cheap and not good so maybe best to try out a new wax on your legs and not your face.

didnt use barrier - collage never tought to do so. was always told to ensure there was nothing on the skin ????

wax was heated to just under the max. on my heater thats about 5.4 6 being max

and it dripped everywhere , really runny so cant seee how it would have been too think - im fairly good at application.

Im so stupid - i never go out either and guess what i have a wedding on sat ... eeeek hope it goes.

i need to brave an do my bikini but what mess am i gonna end up in there

its really knocked my confidence - waxing was the least of my worries in my nvq

Combination of things by the sound of it, wax not good, may have even been too hot if it was very runny, and definately use a barrier just a smidging of light oil, unperfumed baby oil is fine,or if hot and sweaty femfresh is a good sensetive talc free powder.
Id probably chuck the wax away and get a better product.

I changed to cream was from honey and much prefer it as well, I have found that it heats to the correct temp at a much lower setting on my wax pot, I have the standard 1000cc one that colleges use and lots of therapists use as well, and I have it at just above 2 with the cream wax, and it was arouns 3 for the honey, maybe it was a tad hot?? hope its all feeling beter soon xx

If your wax was turned high and dripping everywhere, sounds like you've burnt yourself. Put some Savlon it it and make sure you get to know a brand of wax before you apply it to the skin. xx

I agree it does sound like the wax was too hot if it was runny. But I find it impossible to wax myself anyway without it hurting like hell and leaving me spotty :o lol. Hope you're feeling better soon x

I always end up waxing the mirror when doing my brows. Lack of co-ordination :) xx

When waxing your own legs, I find from experience the stretching is not always a taunt as you would like. Learn to position yourself to stretch the skin on the leg or apply smaller areas of wax and really stretch.

I have very sensitive skin so when doing the face, i also do very small areas. I am right handed, so i apply a small area of hot wax, i use left hand with a two finger stretch and right hand to remove.

Oh dear!

Sound like your wax was a little bit too hot there!!

Your poor skin bless  try some aloe vera gel and cold compress's.

Could you not do a wax exchange with a fellow professional? you know she does yours you do hers??

Haha! I quite often get wax on my fob watch if I lean forward and rip at the same time - and that's waxing OTHER people!! :o xx

Hi all!

I have just found this thread about waxing...

I always wax myself, have done for a couple years now, have never had any problems! Waxed my arm pits for the first time the other night and they're absolutely fine!

Waxed my bikini for the first time ( two nights ago now! ) and its all red and spotty, and really sore!

Is there anything I can do to reduce it?

Thank you all xx
