    Gellux didn't cure properly

Sounds quite obvious but, did you apply top coat, after your colour coat, and then wipe? Or did you apply colour coat and wipe?

    Selling tea and coffee

How many people choose a salon based on the hot drinks served there? I've never heard of anyone slating or praising a salon based on beverages. Would be a nice touch but, worth putting your prices up for? When explaining the price increase, would you say that you're doing it to get some nice tea...

    Sacked by text!

If you've been employed for less than two years, she can actually 'let you go' for any reason she likes, as long as it's not a discriminatory reason (race, sex, sexuality etc). She does need to give you notice though, I think one week if you've been there less than six months but not 100% so...

Do you do your own nails and if so, how often?

I think it's a bit of both, but good for inspo:)

    Gastric bypass

This is exactly what the person I know did. She does/did a week on a diet, then 3 weeks off, then a week on, then two months off etc etc... And claims she 'couldn't lose on a diet' so has had the surgery. She did pay for it herself though. I totally do not agree with weight loss surgery on the...

Do cheaper lamps work with Shellac?

The professionals take a course but it's not mandatory to do any training for any part of the beauty industry. There are various colleges that provide training but, mainly, it's the brands that offer it. I don't think it's a difference of opinion, it's the differences in the way we've been...

Do cheaper lamps work with Shellac?

We don't HAVE to have certification for every brand - it's a choice and a stipulation for insurance mainly. Although, I'm Shellac trained but, my insurance company would insure me to use Gelish (for example) without training with Harmony. There's no need for certification at all in the UK...

    Hard Gel

I don't do extensions anymore but I did, for a brief while use NSI and I wasn't entirely impressed if I'm honest but, it really was for a short while so I'm not too informed. Have heard great things about iJel by INK London though, if you're looking at trying something different?

Allergy patch testing for eyelash extensions

I'm not a lash tech but have had them previously. The salon placed a tiny bit of glue behind my ear, same as a tiny test really, and told me to get in contact if there was any reaction within 48hours. She did say that if I was going to have a reaction it would present itself quite quickly but I...

Do cheaper lamps work with Shellac?

Well maybe you should look to rewording your post because it says you were waiting for ME to show up, not someone who'd grown tiresome in general.

Do cheaper lamps work with Shellac?

So, you're just here to aggravate people? Is that what you mean by the above? I don't know why else you would say it.

    How much do you charge?

You don't have to go to £25, it's what you want to do really. How about £28? That way the client is happy they're getting a little discount, you're not losing out on a big chunk and, also (sneaky, I know) the client is more likely to say "keep the change"... They won't all do it, but some might :-)

Do cheaper lamps work with Shellac?

Really am starting to get bored of the same accusations from the same person claiming that Shellac is 'just' a gel polish when, in fact, that's untrue. It's not a regional thing, it's a global thing. I'm in no way a CND cheerleader, I've actually just switched brands but, it's getting...

    How much do you charge?

My prices are £20 for a mani or pedi and £35 for both, so £5. I'm mobile so, if two separate clients, that £5 would cover my petrol between one client to another and time setting up and packing away etc. I thought it was a fair amount and enough off to keep the client happy with the discount.

    Gastric bypass

I was about to say that I wasn't suggesting the OP get straight in the gym... God, I'm not that heartless lol. I was just having a good old rant, probably shouldn't have. OP defo stay away from the gym or any vigorous exercise until your Dr had said you can.

Competition "nail tech" who's not qualified

Oh my goodness. She was actually at your door doing it? That's absolutely ridiculous!! How can she possibly think that doing things like that will gain her anything other than a bop on the nose?! I wouldn't dream of doing that at a salon let alone at someone's house! If you don't want to...

    Shellac removal difficulties

Actually, no. When we use the term Shellac, we are referring to CND Shellac. It's a product. Shellac isn't a gimmick. It's a product. One of many that CND have produced.

    Shellac removal difficulties

Shellac doesn't need to be roughed up before removal. It can be, of course, but there's no need. No one is being sold a line. With the right application (thin base etc) and ideal circumstances (warm hands etc), the removal is quick and easy. Roughing up won't save any time unless you've done a...

Competition "nail tech" who's not qualified

Do you know for sure she's not qualified or insured? It's a VERY dirty way to do business but, she might be in training or something?! Tell her to bugger off from outside your property and advise that handing leaflets out outside a similar business makes her look quite desperate!
