Hi Geeks,

i did my first client last night, however having spoken to them this morning, she has advised me her palms have gone dark and there is patches on them? Also her feet have gone very dark, however I didnt even spray them. any ideas why this might be?

Also when spraying her i was constantly having to go over bits where the soultion had started to run, will this be due to the amount of solution my gun is letting out? I felt I was the right distance away, it mainly affected her neck and chest?

Thanks

If the solution is running down her body your gun is set too high
Dark palms are caused either
1. they were positioned incorrectly and by mistake you sprayed them
2. she had been touching herself during development time (very easily done)

Feet are dark probably due to alot of overspray if the gun is too high or gun was angled incorrectly when you reached the ankles

I assume you have had some training Dixie, so without wishing to sound harsh, trouble shooting should have been covered.

If it wasn't then I would get back onto your trainer and ask them to give you tips and tricks for dealing with situations like this.

However, as has already been said make sure your machine is set correctly.

I think it is hard to remember everything from your training and panic tends to set in when a client has a problem. I have been tanning for 8 years now and the usual reason for tan on palms is the client touching themselves, this is hard to resist as they admire the tan as it develops and try to see behind them pulling their legs or skin around to see further, if you know what I mean. Also if you have sprayed the palms of course, just make sure you angle your gun correctly and they keep their flippin hands out of your way!

Feet are probably the most common problem and, as has been said before, this can be from the angle of your gun when spraying the legs or from really dry skin on the feet. Even if you don't spray the feet, if they are really dry they will catch any stray mist. Do you use a barrier of any sort for feet and hands? Contact your trainer again after making a list of questions for them. If they are reputable they will be happy to help you! ;)

Totally agree with you. There is so much to remember that invariably something gets overlooked.

Palms and feet are the usual bones of contention when first qualified.

A good geek said to me to place my hands against the clients palms when first trained until I had mastered the hand area, this stopped me from spraying the palms by accident. Also dont forget to pull back the gun when spraying the hands to prevent overload and maybe even advise the client to wear mitts at night to prevent the client touching her/his newly sprayed tan whilst they sleep.

If product running down body you are either too close when spraying or the gun is not correctly set.Use a mitt and pat but you definately need to either stand back with the gun or reset the dial.HTH

You will get there,keep practicing.HTH

thanks guys, ive done two tans now- my second went so much better than the first!! my only issue is feet and sides of hands now, i dont spray the feet but the sides seem to go slightly patchy and the backs of the ankles i put on moisturiser beforehand, could anyone recoomend anything else?

the solution didn't drip last night woo hoo think my gun was set for too much solution xx
