Hi. I am opening a new salon and am hiring a Viatemese nail technician. We are buying all the products that are used in the Viatnemese salons from USA Nails in Hackney (nailssupply.co.uk)
My problem is the airbrush compressor is a huge cost. Its three hundred pounds plus fifty for the airbrush itself. I have found other kits on ebay for a lot less. Plus have seen threads on here recommending Everything Airbrush. I go on there and I find compressers ranging from forty to seven hundred. So I am confused. What is the difference in price and what are the minimum requirements for a salon? I want to be cost effective but it has to be something whoever I hire is prepared to use and is effective.
Grateful for all help peeps x

I can tell you allot about compressors and airbrushes because I used them and sold them for years.
1. a 40.00 compressor will be useless in the slaon and is in no way professional quality.

2, 300.00 for a salon compressor is about what I would expect to pay for a good quality salon quality profesional quality compressor (OR MORE ... CERTAINLY NOT LESS) and 50.00 for the airbrush is A perfectly reasonable PRICE as well (or more).

You are not being 'done' with those prices.

What you really need to ask yourself is, will your clients be interested enough to pay for airbrushing so that you can re-coop your money in a reasonable time? You will end up using the air brush for doing French polishes the most as nail art with the airbrush is not a mega popular or even popular service unless you already have a niche market for it. Another question is, how good is your technician with an airbrush? If not you won't make your money back.

I hope this has helped.

Geeg - pleaseeeee can we see some pics of your airbrush work ( and your hand painting pretty pleaseeeee :) ) xx

Oh hunni, there weren't even digital cameras in the days I was airbrushing!! lol God only knows whether or not Samantha still has negatives somewhere.

The only pictures I know of are in (I think) JJ,S BOOK tHE a_z OF NAILS and there are some in some old old issues of NailsPlus Magazine!! I mean lord ... it was ages ago. I should do some again .. just for fun. As far as my hand painting goes it's all over the place as it was my work and I sold most of it. Again, Samantha has some pieces but I don't think there are any photos ... I'll look.

Awww - get your airbrush out Geeg pleaseeeee. I am sure I am not alone when I say that just a pic of your nails can send shivers of inspiration into my brain and to be able to see a qualified artist and one of our times most notable nail experts work her magic with nail art would be fab :)

( Samantha if you read this pleaseeee also let us see pics of some of the pieces you have :D :D )

Nail art has never really been my thing -- as I'm sure you know. I've taught it and done my fair share, but I'm inspired by people like Mieke .. she is an artist.
