Sorry ladies if this is long but i am really annoyed at this new client i have she is starting to suck all the life out of me!
She has a spray tan once a week. The first time she phoned me we arranged for 5pm. She txt me at 2pm and said 'oh i'm in now come at 3pm instead' LIKE I DONT HAVE ANY OTHER CLIENTS OR A LIFE! Anyway i did it. Got there and she said she didnt want to sprayed in the tent?....ok so no tent :irked: I got the compressor out of the box and she shouted 'oh no!! not that one it's far to slow' and she didnt want to be standing there for more than 10 mins. I told her it wasnt slow, which it isnt, and did the tan. The solution i used on her gets darker gradually , which i explained.
She rings me at 5pm to say 'it hasnt got any darker and i'm not happy'
I rang her next morning and it was fine.
She booked in yesterday then cancelled an hour before, arranging it for today. I cancelled my sisters treatment to fit her in and now i have a txt saying she cant make that time, so has cancelled AGAIN!! She rings me about 4 times a day and txts. I dont know what to do. I never turn down money but jesus! is it worth it ?
..........and breathe lol

Tbh after the first appointment she wouldn't have seen me again for dust.
If you can't fit someone in when they like it's unfortunate but don't go changing all your clients around.

I think I'd be inclined to be permanently busy whenever she's after an appointment.

Life's too short to put up with awkward clients, although other geeks will no doubt say that money's money at the end of the day.

It's one thing for clients to be picky when you you treat them but if they are regular, never miss an appointment or keep on changing times, it's worth turning a deaf ear.

On the other hand, if you have a client who's usually late, cancels at the last minute, doesn't turn up etc do you really want to keep them? 'heartsink clients' I call them, and yes, they can be very draining, especially if they want weekly appointments.

I have one of those too, she is so annoying. She always complaines and cancels, nothing is never right for her, like ''my back was sore after you massage, my skin got spotty after your facial, the nail polish did not last'' an so on and on. the last time she rang me to say that there was lots of hair left after my waxing, so i asked her to come and show it to me, so, there she was with a tiny hairy patch(very short hair) on her nee, and may be a few hairs more on her lower lags, but so short that you can not see you can just feel it:irked:.
I waxed it again, and explain that it was too short that's why it happened, so she replied '' no, I don't think that was the case'', I was pretty annoyed with her.
I've always been very nice to her, but I just could not take it any more. So, she ran me last week to make an appointment for a special offer package(BNS massage+facial+pedi) and she said '' I did not like you massage last time so I want a reflexology instead, and I want to leave pedi till I need to have it done some time closer to christmas'' I am usually quite flexible, but I said no, sorry, either you have it all together and no changes to be made or you pay full price for those treatments and then you can have it when you want it. She said ''Oh, i see, I don't want it then, and hung up on me:eek: So rude:mad:
geeks, what are you doing when you get clients like that?

Oh god she sounds worse than my client!
It's such a shame when you have rude horrible clients that think the world owes them something.Good job there are some lovely clients out there!
I think i'm just going to say to her next time if she cancels again then i will not do it.
You must have lots of patience hun ...how rude!!

If i was you , i would sent to her the bill for the cancellations.
Do we really want clients that at the end of the day are not profitable?????

My policy is that after 3 cancellation within 6 months , i no longer accept further bookings.

Cheers

i wouldn't treat her, i'd get angry. If you get her used to letting her change appointments when ever she wants she will keep on doing it. Next time you book her tell her your diary is full and if she cancells you won't be able to book her in any other time soon. When she rings up to cancel her next appointment and asks to re-book tell her 'oh sorry busy till after xmas', you watch she will make her appointment. Keep on doing that and if you loose her because of it then maybe it did you a favour but also it shows you that that's what kind of client she is and she will be somobody elses problem.:)

bin her off!!!:) sounds like shes costing you money anyway as you had to cancel another appointment for her i personally couldnt be bothered with it but if you want to keep her why dont you have a word and just say you need 24 hour notice to cancel or you will have to charge or just say your not happy with the situation and if she wants you to come she needs to stick to her apps otherwise you wont be able to see her anymore!

You know hun, this is a really good idea! I will defo take this on board for any clients new that are doing this. It's really not fare, not only is she losing me money but my clients that are desperate for appointments could have had the one she cancels!
Thanks hun for your advice

I am getting soooo angry!! I think you are right! I think i'm being a bit too soft with her!
She said that she has had so many girls coming to do her tans. This is probably why!
I have decided to give her one more chance and will do what you said when she rings again and just tell her that i cant have her cancelling appointments at the drop of the hat as other people are wanting treatments too.
Thanks for your help sweety xxx

Exactly what Id too , tell her your fully booked , and only available when you know shes not!

Don't let anybody take advantage of you, if they like your service they will never let you down 'unless of course something bad happens' and if they can't make appointments they will tell you in advance. People like them are not worth your services nor your time. Good luck

The latest one now with this client!
She actually kept to her appointment today it was at 10.30 and she txt to say come at 10 instead and i was pretty blunt in my reply and said i do have other clients.
I got there and it appears that she has make-up on her face. I advised her to wash it off and she said 'oh no it's only under my eyes i have to have it there other wise the tan makes it look really dark' i explain that we can put a bit of cream there for her instead as the make up will act as a barrier. But oh no she wouldnt have it. I did the tan and now i am noticing she has this concealer stuff just dotted on everywhere. So sod it i continued. She got out of the tent when i had finished. I said right i am putting this all away now do you want another coat on your face. She looks in the mirror and says no its fine. So i put everything away.
I'm now going to walk out the door to put compresser in the car and she says ' my face just isnt tanned' Can we do another coat? I said it doesnt matter how many coats we do YOU HAVE MAKE UP ON!!! She asks if she should wash it off so i can do it again HA HA HA HA HA!! THE CHEEK OF IT! (i told her no!) So off i go to the car and i come back to get the rest of my stuff and she has only sprayed another tan other the top of what i had just done. She didnt tell me but i could see blobs of the stuff all over her face from where she had sprayed it too close. Then she said 'yes i think it is brown enough silly me'
I am still expecting some man to jump out on me one day and say im being filmed or something. REALLY i have never known of anyone like it.
You have to laugh otherwise you will cry. Just thought i'd share this with you all lol

I was about to tell you about my nightmare client but this tops it off! With a cherry on! And extra cream! And a Flake!

For the love of all that is holy!!!

In my experience clients only mess you around with appointments if you let them. I say to all my clients 'if you need to change it please ask, but please understand if I can't' - that wat we both know where we stand. If I have a spare slot to rearrange someone to then I do, if not I say no - it's not difficult!

If you give the impression you are her beck and call she will treat you as such. Be flexible but run your diary your way.

I would not 'bin her off', I would book the appt and then stick to it - no moving it, no going an hour earlier. She obviously likes what you do so be more firm with her.........

hth's

In this current climate her money is as good as the next person, however u need to b firm but polite with her, iv had similar problems in the past & they will mess u around for as long as u let them if u can change something then do it but dont rearrange other things for her & dont let her get 2 u. in my experience clients who complain b4 the tan has even developed r chancer just tryin their arm at freebie.

DONT ALLOW HER TO INTIMIDATE U!!!

Good luck have a good weekend u deserve it ha!!! :green:

Excellent advice Vetty! My new year's resolution will be to be more like that because you are totally right.

I have a client for the Power Plate who is ALWAYS late - usually somewhere between 15 and 30 mins. I actually got into the habit of leaving the next appointment free to allow for it!

Once she called me at 9.00am to ask when her appointment was and I told her 9.30am - she said "OK I'm just leaving so I'll see you in a minute" ..... and she didn't turn up at all!!!

The next morning at 10am she rung and apologised. I explained that she had been due in again today at 9.30am. "Oh, I won't be able to make that". Errr.... clearly. "Can I come in later?" I said that 3.30pm was free and she said she'd be there. At 4.30pm she rang to say she'd been held up and could she come in at 5.30pm. She didn't.

The next Monday she called to say she'd been ill and started waffling on. As I was with a nail client I said I couldn't talk right then but I would call her back. I didn't.

A small victory but it made me feel SO much better!

Voice of experience, lol!!!! We've all been there and the thing is to learn from it....... I allowed someone to seriously mess me around when I first started out and much as the customer is always right, the customer also needs to understand the boundaries!!!

Treat them firmly and keep them as a client - everyone wins!!

This is hilarious, no doubt she will call you to tell you her face looks strange!

OH DEAR ha ha ha . . PMSL!!

well that was handy, she did her own treatment, well I suppose you could look on the bright side and say it saved you the job. Perhaps you could just drop the spray, etc off at her place next time, charge her an hourly rate for usage and go off to your next client then return later to collect it. Then you wouldn't have to waste time making conversation with the woman, she sounds a right div.

You have the patience of a saint!

If you decide to keep her as a client I would tell her that you're putting your prices up in the New Year. That way at least all the aggro will be worth your while. ( or she might decide you're too expensive and look elsewhere, in which case good riddance! )
