Could anyone with a home salon or imagination! suggest a garden feature that could act as a landmark into my home salon please – folk are driving by my house and i don’t want to put out an official sign saying here i am!!! I put the porch light on but they still fly by!

A flag with your salon name and logo, you'd have to check with your council as to how high you're alowed to have it, but that way you could lower it when you are closed.
Or if you have a front gate, you could put a garden statue next to it, local garden centers always have gargoles, lions dragons etc.

I thought about a garden ornament as you suggested - just hope it doesnt get pinched - unfortunately the flag poles with the builders flag were all knocked down at the weekend by vandals - I could see mine being next on their agenda!:irked:

Well garden ornament would need to be cemented in. Builders don't charge much to do this for you. Same with a flag pole, if it's inside your propety boundery it's less likely to be hit by the the vandel's, they want an easy mark. And again have it cemented into the hole. You could even get an alarm rigged to it, something nice and loud that goes of if the pole is shaken or the flag line is moved:lol:
Not so profecional looking but you can hang a flag out of an upstairs window during opening hours, just pull it in when you fininsh each day.

Hi There I'm sure that Vista Print now sell lawn signs.
I would imagine they come on 2 sticks that you pop into the ground x

They also sell signs for you to put in your window I just can remember what they are called de.. something lol

Just be careful with any sort of 'business signs' in a residential area - it can bring unwelcome attention. My neighbours complained to the council about mine and I was politely asked to remove it as they were worried about strange people wandering around the houses at all hours! Not sure if I could be forced to remove it but I would rather keep the peace

I think a particularly unusual and highly visible garden ornament would be perfect as it won't encourage out of hours callers or upset the neighbours.

They are decals and am sure vistaprint do these too

How about painting your front door a bright colour like red or blue a colour that no one else in the street has.

Thanks for the ideas - unfortunately im in a new estate and if i put the lawn sign up they would be the first onto the council:cry: (they already have said its okay for home salon but I dont want any hassle) think im going to go with the garden ornament solution!

Merci

What about a bit of topiary, trimmed up trees? my parents used to have 2 bay trees cut into ball shapes which were really distinctive and really satisfying to trim from a hairdresser's point of view! :)

I was going to say this. The lawn signs look fab dont they! x

Painting your door a bright / unusual colour is a great idea.

You could also get funky blinds or curtains - great for business but wouldn't annoy the neighbours.

In summer you could also do beautiful hanging baskets / window baskets? They shouldn't cost too much or be too much hassle to maintain.

Does your car have your company name or logo on it? Having that in the driveway would help too!

Ditto this - I've done this as I can't have any signage for my home studio. No one has trouble finding me!

What about a pretty bird house in the front garden? This could be in the colours of your business? xx

What about painting your letter box bright red or having a unique letter box and telling customers to look out for it?

This is a good idea, have one of those american style letter boxes by your front gate, there unusual. And car with a magnetic sign on the back, that can also be removed when you dont want it on. Sat on the drive.x

Hi - my sister bought me one of those garden flowers that spins in the wind its multi-coloured im sure my neighbours think yuk but its doing the job!!!! - however I think Im going to try and get a bird table that would be nice as long as its not pinched!

I need to get decals on the back of my car but i have a patched up bumper just now and the cars looks bad so ive been hanging off for a new car lol
