Hi, I'm newly trained in pedicures and will be doing 6 back to back 30mins pedicures next week.

I am trying to think logistically how this would work....I only have 1 foot spa. Ideally I would like each client to soak their feet to soften the toenails but would I have enough time?

I was thinking of going to the £ shop to buy some plastic bowls to use.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Try the second hand shops or car boots for a spare pedi spa, you can get them really cheap,
people use them once, store them for a while and then get rid of them, hth

You could also try freecycle, I've seen a fair few advertised on there. I used to do "parties" and had large plastic "baking" bowls with clear glass marbles in the bottom so the clients can rub over them, massaging the bottom of the foot.

Hi, when I book back to back pedi's, I make sure I book enough time in between to sanitize the footspa. HTH! Good luck! :)

Even if you do the bowls you still have to sanitize and disinfect the bowls between people. So not sure that will make anything easier for you. Plus if they soak their feet too long polish doesn't stay on as long.

Duhhhh, I didn't think about you using more than one bowl. Blonde moment I guess!! Let us know what you do and how it goes.

Of course you need to sanitise whether you're using a bowl or a spa, but it's a much more affordable option to have 2/3 bowls than 2/3 foot spas, (and also less bulky to carry) which cuts down your time in between if you have several back to back.

Hey chicca
Just a thought do the disposable liners fit in your footspa? new liner per client, less fuss, it works for me lol :)

Just a thought as (Im making muffins for the pta breakfast tomorrow) im storing them in twelve inch long rectangle plastic boxes which I just bought in tescos for two euro each in your tescos prob a pound, there pretty good quality but you could have them for each client all clean and fresh!!!

A footsie bath is good. A new disposable liner for each client means you can do back to back pedicures quite easily. They are designed for salon use .
Pedicure in 30 mins

thats a great idea - i may steal it

i had this problem and like to take time to properly sanitize my bowls and freaked out over having time do do this between clients or at a wedding

go to your local hardware store or a wilkinson if your in the UK and buy washing up bowls (check your foot will fit - yes people will think your crazy)
they are so cheap you can invest in a stack and i even put 2-3 hand towels, spatulas, files etc in each and stack them, so when im done with one client all my equipment is ready for the next in the next bowl down. then you can take your time to sanitize them later.

hope this helps - at a wedding recently i got compliments on how special each person felt having their own bowl, you can even buy a different colour one if you have a bride

xx

The Beverly Hills Footsie Bath looks professional and comes with disposable liners, so no hassle and extremely hygeinic.

If you are going to be doing a lot of pedis in the future then I would seriously look at getting one of these - they're fantastic.

Hiya,

Just asking you a question, sorry if I go way of the thread, how do you manage to do a pedicure in 30 mins, please tell me, I qualified in Mani and Pedi in June time, but continued to do the rest of the beauty course, I now want to concentrate solely on nails, as I do not have a spare room, and physically cannot lift my "mobile bed" and fit it into my car. I always take at least an hour maybe more, its the painting that gets me any hints, maybe your training was better than mine. Sorry to go of on a tangent but am intrigued to hear your advice and tips as Id love to do it in 30 mins.

I have to say, if I do a 30 mins pedi (mini pedi) then I don't soak. I sanitise the feet with a spray and go from there. If you have good quality nail clippers then you don't need to soften the nails first.

Otherwise the Footsie disposiable liners are a godsend. Just empty it, bin it and then insert a new one. :)

I don't soak the feet either in a 30min Pedi - I call it an express. Which I stanitise feet, then do a hot towel compress with essential oils (lemongrass, peppermint, something like that) then cuticle work, file then polish.

I have a footsie bath with the liners...brilliant!!!!!! Lots of my clients have commented on having their own liner!!

Yeh I dont even bother to use a bowl anymore - too much fuss /mess to potch with in the salon if u ask me.
I wrap the feet in cling film and towels with a softener , do cuticle work etc then hot towels(which everyone seems to love) to take off softener , remove hard skin then slather in chosen moisturiser wrap in towels and paint/ minx toenails while treatment is absorbed!
Bobs your uncle job done in 30 mins !

I regularly do 30 min express pedi's at an engineering firm I visit twice a month. I use a big Ikea stainless steel bowl (easy to rinse and sanitize). 1) I spray the feet with Mundo hand and foot spray. 2) apply cuticle cream and solar oil 3) soak feet for couple of minutes 4) Exfoliate/scrub each foot and return to bowl to rinse. 5) Clean up and pat dry with warm steam towels. 6) Gently push back cuticles/trim/file nails. 6) apply moisturiser with a quick massage 7) clean nail plates and polish. I always use quick dry top coat and Solar speed spray to speed things up. HTH  x

I can't touch feet until they have been soaked and washed.

It just makes me sick to the stomach, although sprays may be effective, the feet and skin would be still be hard.

I want to work on soaked and soft feet, soaked and soft cuticles.

The initial soak makes so much difference to the end result and makes me feel so much more comfortable than a mere "spray".

My pedicures go for an hour and I charge accordingly (no short cuts). I overlap times to allow for a good soak.

I am quite expensive for pedicures compared to other businesses (I would never call them competition) and EVERY client I get comments on the care, intensity of service and the end result.

Although I prefer fingernails, I'm quite passionate about feet.

Gentle when needed and firm when needed :wink2:

As a man, I have quite firm hands and I think they super enjoy my massage, it's quite odd to look up at them while massaging and see them with eyes closed (or rolling back in their heads) completely revelling in the experience. (I never talk during massage time).

I'm the pedicure Gigolo

For every pedicure I do, I get at least 3 referrals.

Foolishly enough, I knock back pedicures (which make me more money) because I prefer to do fingernails ..... GO FIGURE.
