How small is too small?

I might have the oppertunity of a room rental but it is quite small. I've not got the exact measurements but from what I remember it's a big cupboard.

It's big enough for a massage couch. It had one in it when I saw it. Quite a big one, bigger than mine anyway. It has no windows. I know a lot of beauty rooms dont have windows but I don't want clients to feel like they're in a cupboard.

Hi there, well all I can say is I have always had a window in my beauty room which you can spend a lot of time in! Think having natural day light is important and having the choice to open a window is nice. The salon I was in before now had no natural day light in my nail area and I hated that...! So I would always want it now it makes me and my clients feel better. Follow your heart? Good luck:rolleyes: xx

Thanks for your reply. I work in an office full time so would only be using the room evenings and during the day Saturday so I wouldn't get that much daylight anyway.

I'll have to go back and have a good proper look. If it doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel right.

Hi Lee-Ann,
good to hear your out and about looking for somewhere to set up now.
I know you said it is small but apart from you couch what else would you want to put in it in the future?
Would you have space for a shelving area or a chair for your client during consultations along with your own stool and your trolley.

just a shame you couldn't fit your spray tan tent in there as well or you would be good to go:)

That would be good wouldn't it.

They have a beauty therapist who works the same hours I will. She does hands on fake bake so I don't know if spray tan would go down too well. I could just keep that for mobile.

hiya, I am starting to rent from next week and mines sound very similar, I have two cupboeards lol, one a bit bigger than the other, one for my treatment bed, not a lot else will fit in, and another smaller that I will be tanning from, my nail station is going to go in the part of the salon that does hair, It's not my ideal, but we all have to start somewhere. I am going to paint it alight colour to help with the illusion of space, and keep things minimal ( no choice really ) but as long as it is clean welcoming and I provide a good service, I would be happy witht hat so think my clients would be too.....if hte rent is reasonable it may be worth trying, and as things get better you could take your equipment, and clients and move somewhere bigger?? good luck with things, if you do take it on would love to hear how things go!! xx

You're right, we all have to start somewhere. I will definitely let you all know what I decide.

Good luck with your rooms. Do you have any pics?

The first room I rented was small but did the trick. I dont think your clients will mind. They will be lying with their eyes closed anyway lol :)
You have to feel comfortable in it though.

not yet, but will take some before and afters for you, some work has already been done, cupboards out and new flooring down, but still to paint and put blinds up n other bit's n bobs, so will be taking a few pics so I can ( hopefully) see a nice difference he he. I am going to do eastern facial massage this month, and next on the agenda is eyelash extentions, not many salons in my area have cottoned onto this yet so hopefully can grab all the clients first, looks fab doesnt it xx
