I've just done my first bikini wax after finishing my training last year and it wa horrible. She warned me she was like a man, but I couldn't believe it when her hair went about 4 inches down her leg and as about 2 inches long. I trimmed as best I could, but there was just so much hair.

How do I get a good finish line when there is so much hair? I am using hot wax. She tucked a tissue into her pants, but the more she held it there the more hair kept appearing. Honestly, I shall be dreaming about it. Help please!

PMSL sorry hun

you will see lots of clients like this, the older we get the hairier we get,
you will get used to it i promise,
you can use a spatula to hold length ways against the edge where you want your neat line or some people use a tail comb to make a parting like hairdressers do,
and put a from price on your price menu so when they are like this you can charge more for having to use extra wax, hth

Haha your description was wonderful, sorry, but it made me laugh loads. Loubylou is right, you'll get used to it. Bikini lines are quite a scary prospect when you are new, I was the same. More or less same advice as Loubylou.... I use a plastic (sanitizable!) tail comb, trim, then use my talc as a guide really..... Think on the bright side, you've done it, i'm guessing she was happy with the result, and the service....so.... rebook her and think ahead, it won't be half as bad next time she come in!

I've now got visions of you next time with a tailcomb between your teeth and some crocodile clips hanging off your tunic..... pmsl!

ROFL!!!!
:lol::lol::lol:

Oh God...I know I shouldn't laugh but...........

This lady obviously doesn't take regular care of herself, but it's quite normal to get clients like this. xxx:hug:

I know where you coming from. A week ago i done a Hollywood. I had never seen anyone so hairy i didn't know where to bigdin or end!. Her hair was abouth 6in covering the whole bottom area and a good 4/5 inches down the leg front and back. My eyes nearly popped as i forgot all my training and though 'oh my' where do i begin. The worst for me was the crack of her bottom was so thick with hair starting in towards outwards, i wasn't sure which way to pull the wax as i was scared in case i bruised her entire crack or rip her apart.
I did it in around an hour and i was so relieved and she has booked again in 4 weeks.

I really wouldn't have different prices for bikini waxes!
Gosh can you imagine how embarrassing that would be for a client.
Sorry you have to pay more cos you are hairier than most women!
If you have trimmed the hair to the same length then i can't see how you would be using more wax, you would be just trimming more.
I'm sorry but if i saw that on a salon menu then i wouldn't go there!

you made me smile! It can be a bit daunting when you get someone a bit hairier than you are used to. But just think of the great difference you are making right? I had a lady joke saying she "grows her own shorts". Too funny!

It's quite normal to have a to and from price for male waxing and therefore not a huge leap to have the same for female waxing.
You would of course use far more wax on a "virgin" waxee than on someone who waxes regularly, even if you do trim the hair first.
Many hair salons charge more for treating long hair so I think it's perfectly acceptable to charge more for a hirsute wax.
The way to not offend your client is to never charge the maximum. That way your client breathes a silent sigh of relief believing that they're not a female gorilla!

An important point to remember is that our clients don't think the same way we do.

This is just a bikini wax though. Yes you have different prices for mens waxing depending on how many areas you do. You cant charge people different prices for a standard bikini wax!
You really aren't going to use that much extra wax.
Shall we charge people different prices for a spray tan depending on how big they are?!
Obviously you are going to use more solution on a larger lady but you wouldn't charge more because of it-it would be insulting!

I see your point, but Axiom recommends a flexible pricing structure for the "standard" BCS, and he tells me it works very well. Perhaps men have broader (hairier) shoulders than we ladies!

I would not be as blunt to say to any client that it was because she is hairier than most women this would just be down right rude,

i have a from £**.** on my menu, i do not display a top price as this would be off putting,
i explain that i charge a higher price for first time waxing as there is more work to do,
and that sometimes clients want more than a basic bikini so a high or extreme bikini wax would also cost more,
my clients are fine with this and understand,

i would never under value my work as i am very confident in my skills and the service that i provide,
if you start to cut prices and under value yourself so will your clients :green:

I think if you start offering different prices for the same procedure then clients will start getting confused.
Obviously you would have a different price for a standard bikini wax and say a hollywood.
You might have someone that has hardly any hair and you wouldn't give a discount. These clients will hardly use any wax so that will pay for the extra wax on hairier clients!
Men have different areas done for intimate waxing as i well know. I had my intimate male waxing course yesterday.
My husband ended up being a model and i think women have broader shoulders!!

There's no confusion really.
If you had on your pricelist: Brazilian wax £25 - £45, your client knows that it's not going to be any more than £45, so she gets a pleasant surprise when you say that'll be £35, please.
The same goes for chaps: Back, crack and sac - £40 - £60, so they too get a pleasant surprise when the bill comes.
They're both one single procedure, but priced according to the individual's needs. This way the less hirsute client doesn't feel they are subsidising the hairier ones, and if you never charge the top figure the hairier client doesn't feel that they're so hairy as to warrant it.

God this thread made me laugh, then I thought back to my first and only Bikini Wax, hurt like hell and was black and blue and i mean really really bruised.

I cant believe I got over the initial embarrassment for result to end up worse than razor rash. Oh well messy cream for me still.

Sorry no real help to this thread just wanted to say something. Am in a funny mood today, why dont they just put plaits in. Maybe us women could have a competition for being creative with the hair down there, seems there are plenty of models lmao.

:twisted::o
