Hi everyone

I thought I would share what's happened to me recently with my Bio Sculpture account.

I received an email informing me that my recommended status on their website has now been canceled due to my last order being August last year. They said that my account must be more active to keep me on the 'recommended' list. I was automatically put on their list as I achieved an 'A' in my exam in February last year.

I wasn't aware that I needed to order frequently to stay on the list, my last orders were quite big and the products have lasted me until now. I have been waiting for the beauty show to stock up as it would save me £10 delivery with Bio.

Anyway, I just wanted to let others know just in case anyone else wasn't aware.

xx

I'm not a BIo girl but this would upset me too if this happened.

I hope you get it sorted with them....this is a sure quick way to upset a customer and not good customer service in my opinion.

Maybe a email to ask you if all was ok and why you haven't ordered would have been a better way to go.

Exactly what I was thinking! I would have got a chance to explain. In just a wee mobile business so I might not order as much as a salon and I try hard to keep my costs down where I can. xx

This sounds very similar to a situation posted on the other forum with Dermalogica products - not enough stock being ordered each month so account taken off the recommmended list.

I wonder if it's the way many companies are going to go, if so I find it very sad for individuals like myself who want to offer a good quality professional service but just couldn't meet the huge turnover.

Hello Fee. I got an ‘A’ in my exam too, but this did not automatically get me on the Bio Recommended list. I read about the list in one of Bio’s newsletter (forget which one now) and rang Bio to enquire, they stipulate to qualify for the Bio Recommended list you must be offering the full service and this comprises: offering at least 10 (or was it 20?!) colour gel options and the full range of after care.... and there may have been a few other things too, but I can’t remember now!

I confirmed that I met the requirements and they checked my account/previous orders to check this, I was then approved and put on the Bio List. They did tell me though that this is reviewed and is subject to me attending refresher training every 2 years (CPD).

I think this is fair, it would be similar in any other industry. In my previous job (different industry completely) I was similarly on an approved list as specialist, to maintain this status I had to attend 2 days of relevant CPD each year and provide evidence of my work! Similar thing really.

Give Bio a call, I’m sure they’ll be happy to help J

My distributor has told me that they no longer operate the A grade status (Wembley)

Bio Sculpture do not sell their products at the beauty show

^^ This makes sense to me....your were taken off the recommended list but not told you can no longer order or offer their service. However, I do agree that they should have sent you an e-mail asking what is going on first before removing you! Hope you get it figured out!

The 'A' grade status is awarded to experienced tech who have attended advanced training, or so this is what Bio (Midlands) explained to me about 6 months ago anyways... also read something about it on the website/old newsletter too. Didn't realise they've now stopped to doing it though. A Grade status and Bio Recommended are two different things.

I will try and dig out the newsletter that explains the Bio Recommended. But yes, tis a bit poo that they didn't ring you and give you the chance to fulfil the requirements to remain on the list.

Thanks for all the replies, all really interesting.

Ive emailed Bio about it all but I think I'll phone them for some clarification. Seems things have changed since I trained.

I have no problem ordering frequently however it does eat a bit more into my budget but I'll just have to be smarter with my pennies. I do think they should have contacted me at the very least before wiping me off the list.

Bio did sell colours and a few other bits n bobs at the Scottish beauty show last year. Perhaps this has changed now too?

It really annoys me when company's do this sort of thing.

It's as if they've grown too big for their boots. They often forget that it was these smaller salons etc that supported them and helped them grow in their early days. Now they're huge and successful they can now cut these smaller salons and businesses loose.

My sister owns a small hair salon and she had a similar problem with a now well known supplier of hair straighteners (We all know the ones I'm talking about) She took these straighteners on in her salon years and years ago when the brand was unheard of and after virtually being begged by the rep to give them a go. Ten years on they tell her she's not ordering enough and they slap minimum order amount on her account and tell her the rep will no longer be visiting her salon.

I on the other hand have recently returned to the nail industry after a 7 year break, my account with my supplier was still active and I was welcomed back with open arms :D
