Hi
I'm booked onto a Biosculpture gel intro this week and read through the bits and pieces I need to bring. It says I need a marigold rubber glove tied with an elastic band and filled with rice or something similar. This sounds so bloody cheap for the amount of money the course has cost. I was expecting the proper trainer hands to practise on and I feel a bit let down before I've even started. Did anyone else who has done Bio felt like this or is this fairly typical of any gel training?

A proper training hand is a lot of money so the course would have to be a lot more.
The way described, although i havent personally tried it as i have a training hand,is supposed to work very well even rolls of blue tack and tips have been recommended on here so i wouldnt worry.
If you join the biosculpture group on here there is lots of help and those that do it love it and i dont think anyone has had a bad word to say about the training.

Hi

I know that a hand trainer is expensive but using the rubber glove is a great solution as one of my friends told me to do this.

If you fill it with flour and tie an elastic band at the top a few times this will help.

Hope this helps you.

Linda

I found it quite awkward using my trainer hand for practicing gel. It was fine when I was applying the gel, but found it difficult moving the hand in and out of the lamp. I found blue tack much easier.

Thanks for that. I'm completely new to nails, only ever had one set of acrylics 11 years ago and gels 2 weeks ago so even the terms are unfamiliar. I was just a bit concerned that it would be a bit naff but I'll go with it anyway.
Heres hoping I'm good at it!

well I agree that bringing your own hand made training hand to a professional class does seem a little 'unprofessional' tbh and am quite surprised by this, yes the training hands are costly but I would have thought the training centre would have them for you to borrow/lend/or hire for your course, I know other companies do xx but good luck with your course xx

I think generally most companies like you to bring an actual person especially if you are going back in a couple of weeks to be shown how to do infils and rebalances depending on the system.

My money is on the difficulty working on the trainer hand and manouvering it in and out of the lamp the reason why they don't use them and nothing to do with them being unprofessional.

yep I agree the trainer hand are not ideal in and out of the lamp, and the best is always to have 'real' hands to work on .. but any gel class I've been on or held the trainer hand does just fine if no 'live' model can be found xxx and imo I do think the trainer hand looks more professional than a rubber glove filled will rice, and given the price for such courses I feel students should be given the best equipment to use xx

I did the training a couple of years ago and the glove filled with rice works quite well!
Good Luck!

Actually the glove is chosen specifically for the ability to get it easily in and out of a lamp......the nail trainer is not easy to do so. And it's surprisingly realistic, probably more so that the nail trainer, which although I use, I do find a rather clunky, and gives more of a 'full hand' feel than the blu-tack finger.

Bio Sculpture usually give you the choice of a live model or a glove....my guess would be on the course being a busy one, so they are trying to maximise on space in the room. I know they are having record amounts of new techs signing on at the moment.

Amazingly, many techs I know, still have their 'first ever glove hand'. It's a lovely piece of memorabilia from your first course and great way over the first few weeks,, leading up to assessment, to see how far you've come. Something that's quite hard to envisualise with little plastic nails affixed to card, which was how my first nail trainer worked.

Bio Sculpture gel and the company have won several awards for their training and customer service, and I assure you, will be an utter asset to your business. I am still asked for Bio Sculpture, by name, on an almost daily basis by new customers....and I have never been asked once for any other brand in my salon.

We have a Bio Sculpture techs group on here, that provides the most incredible support to one another....we have several discussions daily on thoughts and idea's, and we offer new techs a real helping hand through those salon/training times when you really want to bounce something off another tech....not just your educator. I've sent you an invite to join us, and hope you will. (We're certainly the busiest group on here by far....by several times, when you look at the brands.....plenty of good idea's going about!) We'll enjoy helping you.

Enjoy your course....it's a wonderful product, that has made a success out of many, and you can acheive wonderful things with it. Hope to see you around more!

Thanks everyone. Like I said I'm really new to nails and it just struck me as being a bit peculiar but if its the best way then I'm game. Looking forward to it though.
