Hi Geeks,

What are your preferred colours for a calgel french manicure overlay ?

I like no43 with the shimmer but not everyone wants this so I would like to get another plain pink. I ordered no52 but couldn't get a great colour coverage with this.

I got the competition white in my kit and also ordered no1 which I thought was soft white but it doesn't seem to be. Some of my clients like a soft white so I do need this. What whites do you use ?

Thanks

i personally use clear and competition white - or the transluscent pink.

I do have the shimmery pink (no 43) which i love ONE thin layer of....not keen on it as a coverage but its great to extend nail beds and hide imperfections.

Well I did use clear and competition white on my friend but I was worried about over-curing the clear and it yellowing. Is there any way to stop this happening ? Which is the translucent pink ?

Thanks for your help.

I wish Calgel clear did not yellow ! (I have been trying Go-Gel and it is still clear as the day I put it on (day after Gmex) I use no. 1 white and clear for french. Competition white needs to go over clear or it lifts if put onto natural nail, this is why I use no. 1. as it is fine on natural nail. This stops the clear having to go into the lamp for more than 30secs. HTH's

Number 2 is a nice translucent pink for french. Its very fresh looking and subtle - don't look at the calgel chart though as it looks nothing like it does on there!

I only have one client that has french calgel, it's usually colours, but she has super white & clear. I was thinking about getting 52 to try though.

I'll be interested to see how well it soaks off compared to calgel.

i just put a really really thin layer on and lock cure it then apply the white, 2 fingers at a time then the other hand then back to the other hand 2 then the other then the thumbs...then a thin clear to finish followed BY ABSOLUTE MUST...CALCRYSTAL...which if there WAS any slight tinge to the clear it will bring back to crisp & brightness :green:

I don't get a problem with it yellowing - except on smokers.

I have to say though.....i don't use the calgel lamp i have 2 x tunnel lamps.

my favourite is 01 and 02 for french, followed by 01 and 52.

How do manage it without overcuring the clear?

For a Perfect French -(Clear & Competition White)

Only apply clear gel to the area where you will be applying competition white (free edge area only not over the entire nail) cure the clear for the noraml 30sec, then aplly your white and finish the entire nail with clear gel.

To help the yellowing - you can add a small amount of purple CGA6S to the clear gel this will keep the clear gel in a perfect condition for longer you will still need to use Calcrystal.

Hope this has helped....

The purple into the clear is simply a must! It gets much brighter and doesn't yellow nearly as fast. After trying adding it i would never use the original colour again.

I always use the competition white and clear, I find the 01 to "yellow" but it's ok for the ones who want more natural look. The pink no 02 is ok but it does not make a big difference because it's so clear, at least when applied thinly. I would like a pinker colour that you can apply thinly with a deffinite result. The 43 one only gives a little shimmer and can be used to hide imperfections and extend bitten nailbeds.

Hope this helps! :)
