The other thread on here about annoying phrases or words is proving quite funny so I thought it might be fun to have one about when kids say words wrong, sometimes slightly, sometimes completely, and often to great humorous effect!

Doesn't matter if your kids are grown up now, get thinking and put them on here!

I'll start with a few from when mine were little:-

Wellies - Billies
Triangle - Tingtangle
Biscuit - shi7bic (i kid you not, wait for the next one)
Fishcake - shi7cake  lol
Tomatoes - Bimatoes (I'll never know why!)
Hospital - Ossadot

Can't wait to read yours!!

I'm sure there were more but these are the first that spring to mind!

I was sad when my baby said animals instead of amildans .....he was growing up ....I think he was about 7 then..

Great thread!

Muhrooms - mushrooms
Creherher - Christopher

I used to say buldies instead of burdies & yistulday instead of yesterday lolol xx

I used to say cucumcumber instead of cucumber 😂 my friends son is adorable, he says "awowwww" instead of hello and calls our friend Blaize "Dave" hahah x

My daughter called a yoghurt 'nog nog' :)

Funky for monkey
I was devastated when she realised and started saying monkey.

Cozy cozy for house coat
Piggies for toes

Iv 3 girls and they say my hubby and dog have "tails"

My Greek godson calls me nonna which is the Greek for godmother but embarrassing when people think he's calling me nana!
His sister calls me auntie icky (Vicki)
He wants an olice car for whipmas :)
My friends son calls his step nan Harry instead of Hillary so we now all call her this. Kids can be so cute

My youngest (5) says lilitard for leotard
And a lil girl at gym insisted hers was an Evie-tard as her sister Leah had a leahtard :)

Youngest has had some funny ways to say things,
Millam - her brother Liam
Millamade - lemonade
Discgudden - disgusting
Alabance - ambulance
Nopodum - popodom

She still says,
Brown milk - chocolate milkshake/hot choc
Squash - is specifically blackcurrant, orange is orange.
Brown cake - chocolate sponge
Blonde cake - vanilla sponge
Baked egg - fried egg

All my kids have said,
Dinner cakes - Yorkshire puds

I've tonnes more but I'm knacked ;)

I used to say odinge instead of orange haha 😂 xxx

My nieces and nephews can never say my name and oddly, all adopted the same nickname for me. Despite never having heard the nickname 'progression' previously. I'm auntie rhiannon and it starts as 'an' progresses to 'anan' then 'ananin' then finally auntie rhiannon at about 7 years old. It's a difficult name to say, in their defense most adults seem to struggle :p

They also say;

Cooch - couch
Seek - sick
Foosh - juice
Bubblee - bumblebee
Badabeq - BBQ!

And the two dogs names;
Bebban- Bevan
Tissa - Tesla

When the dogs feel like it they'll only answer you if you shout their names in kid language!

When I was little I used to call broccoli 'tree tree'. Never made the same connection with cauliflower though.

Love this thread!

My son said/says:

Ignorging for ignoring

Cooster for scooter

Mazgazine for magazine

I can't remember them all. Every time he pronounces a word wrong, he says Mum that's the American way of saying it, like elevator instead of lift, I say no baby, it's just a wrong word- he won't have it! Mind you at the dinner table if one of us says bon appetite and it's not him, he'll tell us that's his saying. . . not the French, his!

I used to say daddy log legs for daddy long legs when I was a kid. Apparently I had loads of different words for things. :)

My daughter couldn't say Gruffalo and pronounced it f**kalo for ages. Shes finally grown out of it and I can relax while shopping with her now!
She calls slippers 'pippies'

My son used to say Lobe you instead of love you. He had problems pronouncing his v's and f's. My step-mum was also called Nanny Zoo not Nanny Sue.

My daughter used to call my Mother-in-Law "Raggy" instead of Granny.

Both of my munchkins call magazines "mazagines". ;)

When I'm vacuuming I still call it the "noo-noo" thanks to the tellytubbies when my 11 yr old use to watch it as a toddler. She still can't say "vanilla" and calls it "vallina".

My 6 yr old, when she was a toddler loved the wooden Russian dolls that you pop into each other. She always called them "mows". No idea why. She has a big collection of them now and in our household that's what they're called.
