Hi geeks,

I have been using the new pink cmb powders from cnd on a customer last friday and she complained today that her nails look dead and grey.
I personally think they looked just fine when i did them but was wondering if customers are having a hard time getting used to these powders since they are used to the pink and white that shows the natural shade of their nailbed trough?

I filled her nails in and she was happy with them she said and today she said that she wanted to have them redone since they look all of a sudden horrible, dirty, grey and dead.
I don,t know what to do. i told her to come in and i would file off the gel topcoat and reaply it to see if that makes her happy. If she still thinks that the color is bad i don,t know what to do.

By the way it is the same customer i wrote a thread about last friday :) she was very difficult since she said that she was happy in the end, didn,t said anything while i was bussy, just looked and when she had to pay she indirectly said things like, they look natural i am not used to it, my nails are smaller, i am used to having them broader and blabla... back then she allready gave me a bad vibe.

How would you guys handle this and have you had any type of remarks concerning the cnd cmb pink colors???

I would love to hear some advice

Why exactly did you use the opaque powders? Did her nails require it?

In any case she sounds like a lady that may not be happy wih anything. I have not had experience of the powders looking grey or unattractive.

Why not get her to tell you exactly what she is looking for and then do it for her.

I used the powders since she had very short nailbeds and she wanted to have them extended. I saw that the previous technician had extended the nailbed with transparent pink *looked quite strange* So i was possitive that the cmb powders would be sooo much nicer. She liked it when i asked her after doing the first nail so i continued.

I defenitly don,t mind doing what she wants but i don,t want to do it for free. I think that if she had a problem with it she should have told me at that point. It has costed me time and effort to do them. It,s like going to the hairdresser, choosing a color together and then come back 4 days later saying you don,t like it and to redo everything for free  Don,t you think so??? or not... How should i handle her?>

hi.
i'm afraid there are some people you can't please. i've been doing a ladies hair for 4 years now, and she's never happy, she's had almost every style and cut imaginable. i just go along with her,and she still comes back week after week. it's in the nature of some people never to be happy.
so don't worry.
thg

It sounds strange how they can get grey also when you have put a finishing gloss on tip of them, i have used the CMD colors now for about 2 mth. and have never seen this problem and never heard from any of my CND friends about this..

about the greying...it was something that she asked straight away before i started, so i guess that she has had an issue with it before. She was tanned and i told her that it could be due to uv overexposure of the solarium but she said she doesn,t do it often.

I agree with you. If yo have documented her comments on her CRC then she has not got a leg to stand on. I think Iwould tellher to have them for a bit longer to get used to the look and then if she does not care for them after a month or tw then you can recommend another full set. She can always paint them until the time for a new set comes along. If she chooses to have them re done before that time then that is her choice to pay for it. It's not like she HAS to have them redone.

If you never have this problems with other customers, then IT IS something she i duing otherwise it would also be a problem with other customers..

What would you tell her if she insists on redoing them etc...

I need some solutions for different scenarios  lol

Thx for the help

OOOh i like that answer :green: i will write everything on the inside of my hand. I'll have an answer ready for everything that she says

i would not redue them witout getting pay for it, you did a test on her finger a she agreed, if she now suddenly dosn´t like them, then she most pay to have them re-done.. But that is my opinion others may disagree with me .. :)

Thx for your opinion, matches mine pretty much  It feels good to hear what other nailtechs think just that i feel more sure of what i am allready thinking. Geegs advice was great since i am able to put it in words now.

just out of interrest did you customise them any further or or did they not need it and you used them straight out the pot?
Just to add i would not re do them for free.....

if the nail are ok then there is no need to redo them
stand your ground girl

I used it straight out of the jar and towards the cuticle i faded it a little bit so you can still see the lunula. So for the top that needs to cover i used it straight out of the jar and then towards the cuticle made it slightly more transclucent by mixing it with pink.

By chance did you use the Cool Pink on her? I've noticed that this color looks a bit grey in some lights. I don't care for it by itself--I like to mix in a dash of red to pink it up just a tad. If you did use the cool pink on her, is it possible that this client maybe should have the neutral pink or warm pink instead? Perhaps the color isn't right for her skin tone.

Just a thought. :)

I actually used the warm pink since she had a warmer skintone. I think aswel that the cool pink is very light. but thanks for the advice!

I just reread your first post and noticed that you used a gel topcoat on this client. Did you mention that she's the only one this is happening to (the grey, dirty look), or is it happening on everyone you use the gel topcoat on? I'm wondering if the topcoat didn't get a full cure, and it's picking up dust and dirt? I've seen that happen a few times--the nail looks dull and a bit grey, then I buff off the top coat, and the acrylic color is true underneath.

Hi!!

I thought just to share after starting this thread how everything went...

her nails looked indeed quite different in color since i did them and i quickly saw a buildup of polish in the cuticle. i asked her if she putted polish on and she said uuh no...i took my polish remover and the greyish hue dissapeared!!!

I was like OH MY GOD!!! after blaming everything on my work and products it was her own fault. She changed pretty fast in mood and was like oooooh they look perfect now. She even said that she liked the shape of her nails and smile lines. It was like a complete different person and she even apologised for her behavior on the phone.

This was a good lesson for me not to get to stressed up in advance anymore :Grope: I'll take it more easy from now on

Well, honestly! Some people! :D I'm glad it turned out to be something so simple, and that she apologised. That's one less thing for you to stress over. Yay! :D:hug:
