Hi everyone

I've decided to bite the bullet and I have an interview next Friday to do a ITEC beauty specialist course at a private college in Leeds - The Central College of Health & Beauty. Its just one day a week for 1 year and you can go onto to do more advanced courses.

I already have qualifications in nails (doing my level 3 at the moment), I've also done some courses with Creative (nails are a bit of a passion) and I have reflexology and A+P level 3.

It'll be a big change from teaching in a secondary school which I do when I'm working, I totally love it, but when I'm able to go back to work (soon I hope) I want to go part time in a school cos its so draining.

wish me luck :)

They have a good reputation,
their courses are very hard work from what i have heard, lots of writing to do,
but i have not heard anything bad at all about them,
a friend of mine trained there and loved it,
they are very strict by all accounts hth

I did the ITEC Beauty Specialist course with this college but in Bristol. You would need to do lots of practical work (think 150-200 hours) through the year and sit an exam at the end (practical & theoretical).

& it is really hard work...and rather strict but mostly on your appearance (they dont want the college to look shabby lol)

Well done Anne, good luck!

Thanks everyone for all your replies and encouraging words. :)

I don't mind strict tbh, its pretty strict where I am now doing my nails course, I have to wear my hair in a bun, full uniform no deviations whatsoever, makeup (to be expected anyhows), I have to cover a couple of visible tattoos which I have on my wrists (I'm a bit aprehensive about this regarding the college in Leeds I meant to mention it when I rung, but forgot but now I don't want to ring and make a big deal out of it! iykwim) I'm just hoping they don't enrole me cos of it

I prefer it strict tbh
& I'm sure it will be okay...one of my friends has a tattoo on her wrist and another has one down the side of her hand and i'v seen loads of girls with foot tattoos that you can clearly see through their tights.
I wouldn't worry about it hun!
