Hi Guys,

What with us all suffering "the credit crunch" I thought I'd let you in on a spray tan solution that i've found.

Its called Suntana, comes in 3 strengths;
8%- coconut fragrance
10% - cherry fragrance
12% - chocolate fragrance (it's delicious, I could dive straight in, LOL).

And best of all it costs only £**.** per litre which includes delivery and VAT.
I know u'r prob thinking "u get wot u pay 4", but its actually very good, my clients love it, i've had no complaints about it, i've tried it on myself and if taken care of (lots of moisturiser) can last up2 two weeks.

Dave, the owner, is on here. PM him & ask 4 a sample, u get bout 100ml in a sample bottle, so can do 2/3 tans with it.

Go on give it a go, u no wot they say, "look afta d pennies n d £'s will look afta themselves".

Katrine

PS they got a website 2, www.suntana.co.uk

I am going to try my chocolate sample today so i will give my opinion on it later in the week although its never good to take a definate view about any solution after just one sample tan whether it comes out good or bad and its always best to try it out for yourself and form your own opinion which is why many of us favour so many different solutions.
I would like to see an idea of whats in the solution on the website. Is the solution paraben free, does it contain erythose which is supposed to prolong the tan, aloe, that kind of thing.

I've checked on the site but cannot find the info u need, i will PM Dave & get back to you on that.

Actually make that tomorrow now.Dont know about the rest of the country but its absolutely chucking it down here. Not very good when just had a tan and you have to go out :)

Just last night I sent Suntana an email requesting samples of their delicious-sounding solutions. I hope I get them soon as I'm very interested in the results. I currently use Fake Bake so anything cheaper would be great!

Katrine – Your right, why pay more for spray tan solution when you don’t need to? Suntana products are comparable with more expensive brands but at a fraction of the cost. We don’t compromise on quality and our formulas contains the finest ingredients including Aloe and Erythrulose, so there really is no need to pay over the odds for the 'big name' brands.

Thank you for the samples I requested. I cant wait to try them they smell amazing, and I agree the cost seems great.
Will let you all know how I get on with these. im going to try the 10% cherry first i think :D

Sent off for my sample and am dying to try it out and smell of chocolate

I did try the sample i got and yes it sprayed nicely, nice smell, good guide colour and the final colour came out very well.
Not sure about longevity as i did swim after about 2 days and for a couple of days in a row and also had sauna and steam baths, so obviously that would have affected it so i really cannot comment on its wear maybe someone else can.

Can I just interject a thought which is a general one. I am not commenting on this product you mention and know NOTHING about spray tan solutions.

Credit crunch or not ... the very LAST thing anyone should be doing at this time is going down market on their product range.

One of the many reasons your clients come to YOU is the product range you use for your treatments plus your ability to do the job.

There are other ways to economise than by attacking the very core strength of your business.

Now is a time to KEEP your clients; it is your highest priority ... and changing to a lesser quality product is a false economy and a potentially disastrous mistake.

If you find a product as good .. that is one thing, but it takes weeks and weeks to determine if one product is as effective as another .. not just one go, in the meantime, clients who have been used to one level of service will not put up with problems and WILL go elsewhere. Just a friendly warning and a good bit of business advise.

I couldn't agree more here especially when you weigh up the true cost of application itself which with certain brands only works out at about 5% and with others up to 10-15% dependant on product quality and training methods taken on board.

Sometimes change can be a good thing however sometimes this can lead to disaster ..or at best weeks and weeks of initial problems.

The most important factors are to consider the customers preferences to tan outcome as well as of course customer support from the supplier themselves.

To be fair I do know that this particular brand is a good one and that Dave runs a good business with sound ethics

Is it tested on animals? I kn ow sienna and tantrick aren't but that is a big factor for me. I couldn't see on t'interweb last night but I was very tired and not looking As hard as I might! Lx

I have had no complaints from any clients about suntana solutions, I would be interested to hear what other geeks have to say about this solution if they have tried it.

That’s sound advice from ‘geeg’; the very last thing anyone should do is compromise on their product range. As all Techs know, this is the busiest of times and it is very important to keep your clients satisfied. Fortunately, Suntana products remain competitively priced without compromising on quality so you can be assured that your clients will continue be happy
As Collin says about Suntana, ‘This particular brand is a good one’ (thanks Collin). Similarly, I would advocate the quality of Tantrick, it’s an excellent product and I wouldn’t dream of trying to convince anyone otherwise.
What Suntana does is provide techs with another string to their bow. There is no reason why more than one brand of solution can’t be offered. There will always be clients who insist on a particular brand, that’s fine, carry on providing the service they expect. Equally, there will be clients that have no preconceptions or brand loyalty, that’s your opportunity to offer a greater choice of solutions.

I think if you are a busy salon you can go with the top of the range brands. Some can be £30 -£40 a litre dearer than the more middle of the road brands.Of course if you are very busy you can buy by the gallon and that often makes things cheaper and people going to a salon will be expecting to pay upper prices for a tan ,also it is easier to retail in a busy salon.

As a more small time operator which a lot of mobile or home therapists are there is now huge competition and prices seem to be dropping by the month of course it is never good to drop standards but it seems in the spraytan market you can actually spend less and get a very good solution.

People dont really seem to have much idea about solutions certain names do pop up but usually ones in the mainstream like fake bake and st Tropez both of which are at the expensive end of the market and both haven't necessarily got the best reputation just better marketing.

I do think there is room for everybody and i think there isnt one solution for all.People like different colours and smells.Like Florriedee they may be concerned with animal testing or looking for paraben or perfume free. There is also not any great skill involved unlike with nail enhancement so you cant use that to up your prices.

A few years back there were not many places you could have a spraytan for much less than £25 -£30 but this has come down a lot because there are so many more people doing it and many more cheaper solutions.
So of course quality shouldn't be compromised but it is also wise especially in this climate to be open minded and not be a solution snob because you could be losing clients to somewhere cheaper especially if they are people who have them every week.

A solution company should be aware of this and be able to provide their customers with offers, incentives and possibly an alternative cheaper solution or of course therapists may start to look else where. Its a cut throat business.

Many solution providers already do offer incentives on solutions as well as reduced equipment prices.....and some, like us ,are now providing cheaper alternative solutions to their existing customers as a means of providing assistance during hard times and retaining loyal customers. :wink2:

Remember..everything is relative...if your customers went to the salon down the road just because they were £2.50 cheaper the odds are they may not be as happy with the therapist as they were with you

Yes you have your finger right on the pulse Collin but some don't and having tried some of the really expensive brands i think they are going to lose custom eventually.....

I wont lose any customers because i always make them a lovely cup of tea.Might even make that mulled wine soon ,its the extras that count :)
