Maybe I am having a brain malfunction or something, but what exactly does 'custom blending' mean?
I was under the impression it meant blending the acrylic to the shade the client wanted but I was just reading a thread and peeps were replying saying that because in the pics the lady had short nail beds, custom blending would have looked a whole lot better???
Im confused, please help!

Custom blending is where you mix an opaque pink powder with other colours to match a clients nail bed. This is then used on someone who has short nail beds or a nail biter, so you can extend the nail bed and make the mails look more pleasing and balanced, rather than having a short nail bed and long french white etc.

Hope this helps.

Custom Blending is all the above. :) You can mix a special shade to match a client's outfit or personality, or you can mix a natural nail bed color and/or tip color for a permanent french so that you can create the look of an elongated nail bed. It's all good!

Basically, in the pics you've seen the nail beds were probably a bit short and the white was too big. You can use the custom colour blend powder you mix up to compliment the clients skin tone to extend the nail bed out so you can have a smaller white. This is much more asthetically (is this the right word) pleasing to the eye. Makes the fingers look much longer and more elegant :) hope i've explained clearly, i've attatched some photos for you, as you can see the client has very short nail beds and would look a bit 'stubby' if i just used the normal pink so i have sculpted these and extended the pink with a colour blend powder to make her beds look longer
