 ok so last week and this week i have turned away at least 5 new clieants that wanted an evening/weekend appoinment!
only to be let down 3 times by exsisting clients:Scared:
twice i had a little free hour so was actually waiting round to go to the 6 o clock apps and when i got there NO ONE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:Scared::evil::Scared::evil:
FUMING WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATMENT!!
anyway how do you geeks get round this??
i thought maybe a deposit through paypal??
say for a £40 treatment they have to pay a £10 deposit??
does that sound unfair??
thanks xx

Do you contact them prior to their appointment? I text them the day before to make sure everything is still ok. I havent come across this yet. But I can totally see how annoying it must be!
I would try the texts if you dont already.
I dont see the deposit as unfair at all! x

I did it, I got so fed up of paying to park my car only to find the client didn't turn up at the salon that I introduced a £5 deposit on a £20 service, I explained that I'd had so many let downs that my boss (I lied) now insisted on the deposit. Funny how the no shows stopped. It also became a good way of geting repeat business because when it became time to pay I'd say that's £15 or do you want to carry your deposit forward to your next appointment. Most of them chose to rebook. I never had anyone say, no, they wouldn't pay it.

my policy is if a regular client misses an appointment without letting me know they loose the right to book the next one unless they pay in full for there appointment . i text all new customers the day of there appointment so they dont forget and certain customers who i know mess me about changing appointment times on a regular basis also get a courtacy reminder text.

i'll definatly try the texts..
the thing is the 2 clients in question definatly knew as we had spoke on facebook a few days before!!
thanks for your replies xxx

people will pay a deposit i used to do only mobile and i took deposits for some bookings and the ones that are serious dont mind. the ones that hesistate or question it when i ask are the ones that will most likely let you down.. or the ones that arent 100% about if they want to do it or not.

yes people do scams that way and people can be unsure but it mainly depends on how you comes across on the phone.
i used to email them booking info with ways to pay deposit etc on it and prep information . it looked very professional and never had any problems.
i now take deposits all the time salon or mobile.

thats good to know,
i think through oaypal we both have receipt of payment anyway so it shouldn't be a problem, thanks x

On the back of my flyers and cards I have put something like this

A sensitivity test will be required at least 48 hours before treatment date.
This will be carried out during your consultation. And a £10 deposit required to confirm your appointment.

I also done this when I was mobile (even if it was just a few months)
and people were fine with it.
I just took £10 off the lash price at there appointment.

Which is fine for new clients but does anyone take deposits for infills or am I just being a greedy bitch now :D xx

how would you take a deposit from someone booking over the phone? I'm not qualified yet but am charging £15 for a set of arylics on my practice models! one lady (a hairdresser who should know better) has mesd me around twice now and its putting me off the idea of going full time self employed when i qualify.

Im with you on this one....I dedicated a day to nails two weeks ago, im currently only charging £10 per set...had 6 people booked in...and ended up doing 3 sets. Admittedly, its alot to take on when im not fully trained, but i was still disappointed.

Re;Initial thread post, the salon i go to asks for a £10 deposit on nails (not infills lol) and a 50% deposit on packages xxx I NEVER mind paying a deposit, the only client who would mind are the ones that know they are likely to let you down xxx

Shelley xxx

With my hair extension clients I take a 50% cash only deposit which is non refundable. Never had a no show yet! Touch wood that is!
