Hi , I have a lovely client who struggles to keep her nails on , she was originally going to a NSS salon , but that was nearly a year ago, before she came to me.

Sometimes she knocks them , sometimes she says ..they just came off! Today I want to try and get to the bottom of it, I will ask her about any new medication she may be taking , and Im also going to try CND Radical on her instead of Retention and also use primer as well to see if that helps .

Yesterday she texted me to say , she had lost 6 , and so soaked the rest off , and wants a new set .Now I go to her on a fortnightly basis , shes a very loyal client and always gives me £2 tip , I was just wondering if other guys dont charge for repairs if the client tips, and should I charge her for a full set today or would you just charge her for infills, even though it could be her fault shes loosing them?

Whether a client tips me or not does not affect what I charge them.

I always include one or two repairs in my maintenance unless the client has not followed my advice and say stretches their maintenance beyond what I recommend.

In the situation you have described, I would always charge for maintenance beyond two repairs. As for your next appointment with her where she has no nails on, I would charge for a full set. Your time is money and it is up to your client to look after them, or at least try to.

Don't undervalue yourself. Good luck!:)

I would defenitly charge her for the repairs. You are a professional and need to get payed for the extra work that you put in. I have customers that tip me aswell and they are very nice but they know that if they break one that i charge extra. I know it isn´t always that easy though, especially if they are nice and kind and it has been going on like this for some time.
If you don´t have any other problems with your customers nails lifting or comming off i would take a close look at hers. If she has damage on her nails you know that they came off under force and didn´t fell of. if so...why would you take the beating for it and not get payed?
I did all of this aswell in the beginning and people got used to it that i did this for free, but then i found myself going home feeling bad about it feeling almost like taken advantage even though it was my own fault. Now i have gotten much strickter and i get payed for every little extra that i do and i feel much better about it and me and my customers have a better understanding.

Hope i didn´t made it too long LOL :green:  just thought to share my thoughts

Most of the time, I charge for everything.
In the case of your client, definately charge. That's a big job.

Mind you, for longterm clients that spoil me and frequently 'overtip' in my opinion; I will often add some free art and/or occasionally turn a blind eye to a solitary break. Particuarly with those that are very careful with their nails and not prone to breakage and come to me with little work to do. They take care of my nails and me, I take care of them.

For those with frequent breakage, full price. HEY, that's a lot of product and time! I didn't beat them up. THEY did.

So yes, charge for a full set. She broke them. She soaked them off when it might have been possible to 'repair', resulting in less product.

hth's

My prices include one free repair, and a client can either pop in for that in between rebalances (for which they get a 15 minute appt) or have it repaired at her rebalance. The free repair is only available within 3 weeks of last service.

A good longstanding client who rarely has any repairs, occasionally may turn up with 2, and then I waive the charge, but never for new clients, or occasionals!

Well it turnt out she said she has been a little heavy handed lately, and said one just pinged off !!! There were tell tell signs on her natural nail of them being forced off, it also turns out shes been on medication for depression since xmas , so maybe this could be a culprut too...

Anyhow I popped on a new set, used me primer and Radical ..and charged for full set.!!:lol:Fingers crossed!!
