Has anyone been to this exhibition? or is anyone going? I am going to book some tickets, I think it will be really interesting:)

the link is Whats On | BODY WORLDS 4 | MoSI

I have still not been yet but i am planning on going bank holiday weekend,
i agree it looks ace

Not to put you off if you really want to see it, I myself went.

In the main part it made me feel sick, some of the exhibits were completely unnecessary for example the person who had been plasticised to look like a wizard using their own flesh to make a hat and baggy sleaves. Also I objected to the plasticised body of a pregnant lady and the deformed babies, these exhibits reminded me of an old fashioned freek show. The foetuses certainly didn't give their permission to be on show. I left in floods of tears after seeing this. Other people thought it was a laugh.

It is a shame as some of the exhibits were educational then it went completely off the wall with people playing football with their own heads e.t.c! I was really keen to see it but would not have gone in high insight x:hug:

Thanks for your replies you two, I guess if I dont go I will really wish I had:rolleyes: so I think I will go, they are doing a trip with colllege but I am going to go with my hubby so I will have longer, the tutor said it is will be really for anatomy and physology, but Weezie I dont the idea of the pregnant lady etc... thats not nice, and the wizard :irked:

Like I said some of it is really interesting and educational, at least you will know to skim over those bits x:hug:

i went to this when it first opened in london a few years back now and i did think it was really interesting even though it was disctsting and id make me feel abit ill.
i went because it was just one of those things you have to see once so i wouldnt want to go again.
i did find that you had to keep reminding yourself that they were real people so i think that helped.
have you seen the james bond film casino royale as it features in that so you could get an idea of what you will see and what they look like before you go as it does show it for a decent amount of time.:)

Went to go see his exhibition in London a couple of years ago and it was AMAZING !!

There is nothing to be squemish about, the exhibition is very well done and in good taste.

Well worth to go have a look, especially if you like biology / A&P.

Mmmm i think i would visit just with your hubby and see what you think for yourself about it all before taking the children,
we understand things differently to them,
if after your visit you think they would enjoy the experience you could always make another trip, its not too far and not too expensive either hth

I went to this in Blackpool, a few years ago, it is very interesting, an eye opener. I found it quite upsetting at parts, but that's just me.

Prepare to go with an open mind and to learn. Some of the things you see aren't that nice, but you can run past them quick!

It's well worth going.

Just re-read this, there wasn't a pregnant lady there when I went but I don't like the idea of that.

Also, I forgot to mention, it makes you look at your own health, and how you treat your own body. e.g. drinking less if you have seen a liver that's badly diseased through alcohol abuse, a diseased lung etc. Sorry not to put you off!

where did you go weezie? i went to the one in manchester which is open at the moment, im sure i didnt see a wizard? i saw a feotus but only one. i thought it was good and didnt find it too realistic to be sick, but realistic enough to be fascinated.......

Near brick lane in London, maybe they changed some of the exhibits?

That's where I went. I thought it was suitable for children, but then that's just me.

There were loads of kids there when I went...

course you're not loosing the plot!! they must change the exhibitions at each place x

Thanks I started to worry! I think they have four different exhibits I just found this written about the wizard.

"The Wizard (2003). The male seems to be flying, although his organs from his tongue to the rectum have been removed. Rather than a broom for flying, his right hand holds his tongue, and the left hand supports the same-side lung."

Nice!

To be fair the foetuses were in a separate section with a warning so children didn't have to see them but I was really upset by them and the way they were displayed with hardly any educational information around them.
