I had a lady buy a new pot of wax as im converting to a new brand, she paid after the auction ended and I posted within 2 hours, this was yesterday and she's emailed me today saying that one of the wax pots has split and it's all gone every we're and asking for a refund

So I asked if she could send it back or show me proof it's broken and she's declined, now I'm not happy refunding for something that's not broken etc

Isn't the wax always hard before its melted? I always thought so (sorry if that sounds dumb)

What shall I do? thanks x

if shes not sending pictures dont send a refund!

Would eBay not take action? X

I dont specialise in this area but i think your 100% right in not offering a refund unless you see proof. Im pretty sure ebay will back you on this.
Tell her she doesnt get a refund unless she returns it. And say if it is faulty you will also refund postage. Or ask for photographic proof.

As for a wax pot being solid im not sure but it shouldnt of split if it was packaged properly?

If she paid via paypal I'm afraid 9/10 paypal do refund as they side with the buyer x

if she opens a case you can say you will refund the item if she sends the item back to you recorded delievery at her expense within 7working days. i bought a fancy dress outfit size 8-10 and when it came it was like a childs outfit, badly made, badly fitted and studiply short in the body. i asked for a refund and they said if i returned it to them at my expense theyd refund me the item cost only, no postage, i refused because it was from USA and would cost a bomb and opened a case, he said exactly the same thing in the case and ebay sided with him and closed the case.... if you go on the help section you can now do a live chat with a ebay customer helper, make sure you say it wasnt like it when you posted it and explain that you cant imagin the wax would of melted and got everywhere in the post... good luck :D

Personally I can't see a brand new rock solid pot of wax even beginning to melt during transit, never mind fully melting and leaking everywhere!

I'd stand your ground and not refund until its returned and proved, I wouldn't accept a photograph as proof either as there's no way to tell It's even the pot you sent

Kate x

Im glad im not in the wrong for declineing.
I didnt think it would have gone everywere when the wax is hard? i mean the damn thing was unopened!
Stupid Ebay!

I'm starting to really dislike eBay.

My hubby sold some expensive jeans a couple of weeks ago.... Buyer receives & said they were shorter than stated (which they most definitely weren't!) she asked for a refund.. I said send them back & I'll give you refund. She then messaged asking for £7.50 postage costs WTF!!

They cost me £3.00 to send recorded & I explained that & she said no I want £7.50 so I told her to eff off & open up a case... She hasnt though because she knows she's just trying to con us!

Another thing was i sent a small bottle of my old spray tan liquid to someone & the buyer claimed it had split in transit (why lie?!) I'd wrapped it like hell in bubble wrap, postage bags, black bags, taped the lid down the lot! ooh guess what eBay sided with her. so she got her money back...

Sold a cardigan last week which was navy & the buyer messaged me a couple of days later & said it looked like a green colour (since when has navy looked anything remotely like green?? Seriously!! lol)

I've stopped putting my stuff on eBay now. Sick of scammers! Rather give it all to charity.

P.s - Clare (proper princess) if your reading this whatever happened with the tanning machine? Your other thread got closed & I've been wondering if it got sorted? Hope so! Xxx

I've spoken to eBay and basically they will be on my side due to it been a solid liquid which isn't possible to leak x

Lol! They took funds from my card and sided with the buyer. I appealed and told them I was taking both the buyer and eBay to small claims court. They gave me my money back! :) x

I'm getting fed up too as buyers can do what they like and sellers don't have a chance! I just sold a bag and the girl is saying did not turn up! In the past I would of said wait 28 days as this is what post office said but if I do I'll get neg feedback! I've been an eBay member for almost ten yrs but now it's just A joke. I am always paying fees too :( sorry just felt like a moan :) x x

You girls crack me up! Got my money back after a rant! Don't settle for their first answer people. Xxx I won't use eBay as I did before x

I was thinking about selling some shoes and clothes on Ebay, I'm having second thoughts about it now...x

People just want something for nothing on eBay so they will do all they can to get things for free

just to inform people as my mum had to do it before we started doing recorded delivery for everything, she just did standard 1st class package and the woman said the item hadnt arrived, luckily my mum had kept her proof of postage from the post office and was able to make a claim and got her money back from the post office via cheque. then a few days later we had the item returned to us as the woman hadn't been in so was left a red card and never went to pick it up so it got returned to our address, when my mum emailed her to inform her she said it was too late and she'd already bought something else... cheek of it! the cheque got ripped up but we still got it in the first place!

Ive stopped shipping outside the U.K as they seem to go AWOL!! and had to pay up due to this.
Also sometimes it takes ages for the buyer to get their item, very annoying when you got first class.

Ive also noticed that there seems to be more free listing weekend on there, wondering if ppl have been fed up with it ( like us! ) and been selling thie stuff on sell your stuff for free or even freecycle!

I bought a used wax kit from eBay, the kit consisted of a small Hive wax heater, hard wax, warm wax, paraffin wax and brush, wax strips, skin cleanser, after wax oil, equipment cleaner and spatulas. When I received the items the package was open where she'd not packed it securely enough and there were none of the waxes in the package, also the wax pot lid was stuck solid. When I contacted the seller to ask for a refund as the item was not as described she was very rude and told me she'd forgotten to pack the hard wax and paraffin wax but the warm wax was in the heater, she told me to just warm the heater up and it would be good as new. She said she'd packed it upright and it was Royal Mail who were at fault. To cut a very long story short I received numerous threatening messages off the seller, she refused to refund so I had no option but to open a case with eBay, even then she was abusive and threatening, she wanted me to return the item, wait till she sold it again and then she'd refund me but wouldn't refund the original postage I paid. eBay put a hold on her account and she then accused me of stealing from her PayPal account. I did get the full £50 refund in the end but I has to pay £8.00 to post the item back to her which I think was really unfair. She was mentally deranged and I left feedback to this effect.

I used to use ebay 24/7 now I don't bother, waste of time & effort!
If you girls don't want to use ebay there is a new craze that has taken to facebook. Its like a group for your area where everyone sells things. I live in Chingford & mine is called 'Chingford Swap & Sell' so maybe search for that and see if your area has one... If it doesn't maybe make one ;)
