congratulations i can see why you won, lovely work.x

Lovely transformation! Well done and congratulations on your win! x:)

What a lovely transformation! You deserve some acknowledgement for them and I bet the wearer of these little beauties was well chuffed, too. :)

Hi Sandra

Congratulations on winning a competition!!:)

It doesn't say on your profile how long you've been doing nails. Plus without knowing the competition criteria I don't know what was expected.

The reason for saying this is that I'd like to critique the nails in a way that both you and other Geeks find useful.

This seems like a very good competition. I like this type of before and after and challenges skills in the beat possible way.

just wondered what type of nail enhancement was used? am thinking of changing my brand

tks

Holy smokes, that's amazing! :)

they lok really nice hun :) x

Thank you :hug::lol::lol:

I am using Nailite , just used their allure tips ( very thin , no well ) , with the French Pink gel ( sealed also with it ) . The flowers are hand painted .
This competition was at the Nail Talk forum .
I am doing nails for abouth 4 years .

Those nails lasted 5 weeks :green:

thats amazing, 5 weeks on a nailbiter!

There are several points I'd like to make. I hope you don't object Sandra? I think they may be useful for the Geeks on here. Especially after reading the posts. I would like to point out competition vs salon plus a general critique on the aesthetics.

1. This is a competition and 'impact' is important. However, in a salon situation I wouldn't recommend this type of enhancement.
2. The comment about changing brand in a post does not relate to the result. This result could be achieved with many (if not most) brands. It is the execution that matters.
3. In a salon environment, the nails are far too long. Just a couple of millimetres over the end of the finger is best suited to a nail biter.
4. Staying on for 5 weeks may appear to be good but 5 weeks is far too long to leave a nail biter (in general). 5 week old enhancements will not look good even if they are all still on. 1 week maintenance is the best situation for the first appointment.
5. For a more aesthetically pleasing nail, I would suggest a free edge that is narrower and a shape that mirrors the cuticle area rather than a wide, square shape.
6. The tip application shows that the bitten nail and slightly bulbous skin has been tailored to avoid the upward shape that so often happens when this type of nail is enhanced.
7. As I spend most of my working life doing nails for photography, I hate to see the skin flooded with oil! Oil is not allowed in most competitions as it hides so much. It is difficult to see how neat and even zone 3 is.

Again, congratulations for winning Sandra. I hope you understand why I want to point out to new technicians what salon enhancements should be. The last point is a personal comment but one that I believe to be relevant.

She did stayed for 5 weeks and if you could see the nails you would be surprised . Really , I am sorry I did not take a pic , there was no lifting etc... But her nails grow slowly , she was like a ''normal'' 3 week ...

3. In a salon environment, the nails are far too long. Just a couple of millimetres over the end of the finger is best suited to a nail biter.

This girl is famous for eating everything to small , and I did her nails many times , this is the best lenghth for her  Normally , I agree with you , I extend the bitten nails just a few mm .

6. The tip application shows that the bitten nail and slightly bulbous skin has been tailored to avoid the upward shape that so often happens when this type of nail is enhanced.

I have to disagree with this . I used curved tips and I am always just lightly taking the shine from the nail so there was no force used on the natural nail . I am taking the tips next week off since her nails need just an gel overlay now . I hope I understand this , since english is not my native language .

Thank you for your comments ! :)

CONGRATULTIONS SANDRA!!!

The nails look amazing! No wonder you are chuffed. I will be doing my nail enhancement course soon and I hope one day I can be as good as you. Congratulations again xxxx:green:

Hi Sandra

I'm pleased you understand what I am saying

Point 6 is a compliment! I am showing how you have done the correct tailoring of the tip for a nail biter. Apologies if this wasn't clear

I am always open to suggestions , there is no need to be narrowminded ( hope I spelled it right ) :green:

Thank you all again :)
