I have a client who I have sprayed twice before (tantrick 8%).

On her last visit she commented that her feet hadn't tanned very much at all compared with the rest of her body. I therefore made sure I sprayed them well this time.

She has told me that they are not very tanned again and will top her feet up with "Dove" tanning lotion. She is off on holiday so didn't get the chance to see her before she went. I also tanned her daughter who is very happy, as is this client. She can't understand why her feet won't tan? She says she just has "funny skin". She does have a lot of varicous veins. This is bothering me though and want to get to the bottom of it!

I asked her if she had any foot cream on and she said no. On this occasion she wore sandals when she left so the tan could't have sweated off in her socks!

Any one have any ideas please?

Just a thought, because I've done it myself with out thinking, did she exfoliate her feer with an oily based exfoliator. Is so this would leave some residue of oil on them.

What is she washing with before hand? How is she washing, bath/shower?
Some people experience this problem on their shoulders due to shampoo that contains silicone. It will create a film over the skin.
Is she exfoliating the day before or on the day?

Thanks for your replies.

When I see her next I will ask what she uses to wash/exfoliate before a tan.

My suggestion would be to use a higher % just on her feet?

Thanks Yvonne, that could be the answer!

I really want to be able to sort this as due to this client's dislike of her legs, i.e varicose veins, she really wants her feet to look tanned as she only really has this part on show!

Well you mentioned Dove - So she could be using this as he shower gel or cream before the tan which would then cause a barrier. Or another lotion that is causing a barrier. Next time you speak to her tell her to not put any lotion what so ever on her feet and then try again.
