hi this is my first thread with pics so be nice (haha) actually give me your honest opinions.

first nail biter wanted glitter was really worried cos never done one before and never used glitter either so gave it a go. here are the before and after pics so you can see just how bad she bites her nails. anyway i was pretty please with them as after doing the first nail i realised i would have to use a masque and custom blend so mixed pink masque with a bit of pink technailcolor. anyway she pulled them all off the next day after it taking me 3 hours and didnt charge her cos it was my brothers gf. she said she couldnt get used to nails.

Hey Kelsha - welcome to the site!

Well done for getting stuck in on a nail biter! They are always a challenge.

I see you use NSI L&P.

You've got the right idea in how much length to extend the nail bed by, but the general finish of the nails is still leaving room for a bit more work with the file hun. Smile line could be crisper too.
They seem to be a bit lumpy in places, which can happen when you are new to using glitters. I had this happen to me too, when I first started using them.
You need to use less than you think, particularly if you then have to cap the glitter with clear. Did you add this to the powder, or did you use a pre-mixed product?

Ok, as for other comments, I think the side walls need to come in a bit too.
The pink masque powder mix you used - can I still see the nail free edge through that or is it just the way the lights have hit the nails?
Be sure that when you apply the tip, that it fits from sidewall to side wall too, as I can see the edge of the nail on one or two. But that's hard sometimes, I find it so anyway!

I'd like to see your normal work (ie not glitter & not a biter) to see how well you are coming along with those. You need to practise, practise & practise in this job, but you'll get there in the end.

Thanks for sharing:hug:

I agree with Bev Rose's comments.
Did the nail biter ask for glitter tips??

It always 'beats' me that a person who has abused their nails for centuries wants to highlight them in this way.

My general comment would be to be discreet with this kind of nail.
Keep them short and tapered to help disguise these square blunt fingers. Square blunt nails on square blunt fingers is not a recipe for beauty.
Soften the corners and in my opinion nail art of any type should only be used on a pretty canvas ... I would never recommend it to a nail biter personally ... that is my personal opinion.

Hey well done they look really cool, must be a bit of a blow for her to rip them off like that!

Can you please tell me what a masque and custom blend means? I do heaps of nail biters at work but because we just have a standard process for every client, nail biters just end up with tiny nail beds, which do look silly but I dont have the pleasure of working for myself and making my own decisions yet.

thanks so much for you help

i didnt want to do them like this but she wanted them this way and ripped them off anyway.

thought i would have a go though.

going to print your comments off so i can improve on this type of thing.

well i got my certificate today and they were really pleased with my nails but gonna give it a few months and then do a creative conversion,

these were def not my best nails but we have to start somewhere.

there is no way i am going into a salon yet i need plenty more practice before that happens think i would rather wait til i am converted to creative and have had chance to better myself. i do have other pics will add them to my gallery later.gotta go stop my baby from battering the cat at the mo. lol.

anyway thanks for the comments really appreciated them

pink masque is a powder thats by nsi that covers up the nail so that you can place the smile line further up the nail to make the nail plate longer on a nail biter.custom blend is a mixed powder to suit the clients skin tone.hths.xx
i also agree with whats been said and how annoying is it when someone just pulls them off after all your hard work just because they havent paid.
i do think they look better than they did although i do agree with keeping them subtle but again that is just my opinion.
i look forward to seeing more of your work and well done for being brave and posting your work.xx

Well done for getting your certificate sweetie!!!!:)

It is funny that when you are learning, you always seem to get the nail biters who want them loud and proud, but then can't cope. (you want to just slap them eh?)

I think you did do well for a new attempt. It is very hard to do custom blending as everyone has a different colour nail bed and it is hard to know what to use when you are still quite new to nails.

As Geeg said, i would have done a very soft french, tapered the sides slightly so when you apply the free edge, it won't flare or look flared. I have to say, i would also tend to sculpt rather than tip a nail biter, but hen it does depend on how bad the nails are.

Well done to you for giving it a go, even if she didn't keep them for long. At least you will know what to do more when you get another nail biter.
