Ive been doing nails for 2 years now and have never had a bad client.. untill saturday!!!!! ..

i was sat talking the usual talk 'you going anywhere special' 'hows the kids?' 'weathers nice isnt it' yabber yabber.. and all she done was ask whats this for whats that do, which i didnt mind.. but then once i had finished one had she started to bite the nails and chew the corners :eek:!.. i told her not to do it no more and joked with her.. then once i had finished she seemed happy and signed my confirmation form to say she was happy and refunds are not liable after she leaves the salon.. anyways my weekend went by as a blur, far too many voddy and cokes i guess hehe (im not always drinking on a weekend so i have a excuse;) ) and after a few clients i got a phone call from the lady from saturday winging on she jammed her nail in the door and all the others fell off..

Im really suspicious that all of them fell off, no one else has ever had that problem before who's had there nails done from me.. maybe one fell off but i cant come to believe that every single one did!..

Should i just agree to do her nails again or what??

I have to ring her back tomorrow morning..

HELP?!

I would not offer to do them again for free without seeing them first, I suspect as I am sure you do that they have been in her mouth all weekend, I would imagine if you tell her she has to stop by for you to check her nail plate for damage she will not bother. Make a point of saying that you have to check for signs of them being picked at and that you can tell how they have come off etc etc.. in a nice way of course. You are obviously confident in your work and we all know nails dont usually just fall off!! hope it all works out. Claire x

Its more likely that she broke 1 in the door and tore/bite the rest of them off,
if you give her nails a wipe over with scrubfresh you will be able to see the damage she has caused to them (hence NO FREEBIES)
and point out that if they had fallen off there would be no damage (missing nail plate)

if they are in perfect condition (very unlikely) then its up to you if you want to do them for free
hth

In a word.... NO

Nails do not just fall off....shake your hands as fast as you can......did they fall off.....? No of course they didnt....

She has trashed them herself and will become a problem client if you let her...stand you ground.

So she sat in front of you biting at her nails and then expects you to believe that her nails just fell off!

Once you see them then make a decision

No way did they fall off,
it annoys me when they say that, normally they confess to me as they know i dont stand no messing, and Im not stupid.
I say she turned into a cannibal and had them for her dinner

I agree that you should ask her to come in and let you have a look at her nails.
Ask her to bring the enhancements that "fell off" with her so you can see them.
I would not redo for free. Scrubfresh is great to expose the damage made to the nails by forcing enhancements off. Good luck with it

you've been doing nails long enough to know what your work is like.

if she can sit there whilst having them done and bite them, goodness knows what shes done when shes left you.

you definately need to check her nails before making any decision though.

as others have said, try scrubfresh. if you dont have any im sure that i read a uv lamp will also show damage.

im guessing that she may have jammed one in the door, possible broke the corners off one or two of them by biting them and decided to bite the rest off as she didnt want them looking ruined/odd. shes then realised that shes just wasted money by doing that and thinks that she may try for a freebie set, probably not realising that you can see damage!!xx

This was my first thought ???

Not quite the same but similar, i did a set of lashes for two girls (sisters), i gave them strict instructions on what to use and what not to use. I normally always send a text to clients 48 hours after checking all ok any questions.

I did this with these two and had no reply for almost two weeks, then she did reply saying they had all fallen out and was not happy.

I had already done them a special offer and had fitted them in at extremely short notice.

My reply was, sorry they were unhappy this hadn't happened before and i had testimonials to prove this, were they sure they had followed my instructions for after care? if they bought in all the products they had been using and allowed me to examine the lashes and i was then satisfied they had follwoed instructions given i would offer them any service in my lists at half price.

They never responded.

So after my long tale hehe, i would go with the advice of asking to see her nail beds for damage etc.

Good luck

NO

No freebie!
You've been given good advice. Follow it.

I say phone the lady first and see what she says - she might openly admit that she shut them in the door and broke them and/or chewed at them.

This might be a completely innocent situation and she is happy to pay for the re-do.

You need to see the nails really and decide from there. Even if you think she broken them herself, you need to decide on how good a long term customer she will be to maybe consider re-doing them.

I've re-done nails for free before knowing full well that the client picked them off, BUT because of my good 'customer service' the client has gone on to become a regular long term client and has recommended us to all her friends.

You know what they say - from something bad, comes something good

Ask her to come in and bring the nails with her so that you can send them off for analysis:)
DO NOT DO THEM FOR FREE!! x

with this new testing machine that can checks for saliva on the bits of 'broken nail' - no saliva means not chewed off!! haha :)
