Is it okay to do this?.......

Using Brisa Gel...Bonder layer, Builder layer, file with 180 to shape & define THEN...with liquid and powder (ezflow) brush on a very thin layer of shimmer, then use finishing gloss over that to finish?

(p.s I know there are brisa shimmers..just ordered but don't have yet) x

I believe that you can rebalance with one product over the other... so I assume that you could do it.

But why not use L&P from start to finish? Would it not be easier?

I agree with Victoria. Put your layer of ezflow shimmer on then build with clear acrylic ( HD clear is fab as its so crystal clear). If you do it the wqay you said you would also have to file and buff the L&P layer too. Seems like a lot of hard work to me!! xx

Yes I know its just that I wanted to use gel as need more practice, thanx

Did you know that you can add shimmer/ polish etc to gel?

I have done this with Ez Flow, among a few other brands.

In a small mixing pot, add whatever it is that you plan to enhance the gel with: shimmer powder, glitter acrylic powder, nail polish (a few drops), etc..
Keeping in mind that if you add glitter acrylic powder.. you must use right away so don't store or it turns into a gummy bear

I have bought all sorts of glitters & shimmers from craft stores and nail art supplies and gel is great for it because even with the cheap glitters, it's no problem. Monomer of acryli will eat the cheaper ones, but not so with gel.

Apply a thin layer of clear-it, then your layer of gel that you have mixed, full cure, file to shape & then finish-it.

Hope this helps :green:

You can use Brisa over Liquid and Powder as long as the L&P is filed to a 180 grit surface, but it is not recommended to use L&P over Brisa as it is not as likely to adhere properly! HTH :)

I'm not sure this is true, I'm sure I read on here that Brisa is basically Retention plus in a gel form. So there shouldn't be any problems layering it either way. (please correct me if im wrong)
I have put L&P over gel before with no problems.

I recently did a class with Sam Biddle and we were able to use gel as a base put aqn acrylic design on the nails, build them up using gel to create a 3d effect and visa versa, so there was no problem for us and the nails that i have done since have lasted just the same as any other nail would.

I have for the last few sets of nails on myself done Brisa on the nailplate and the sculpted l&p for a free edge. I has worked like a treat and are as strong as they usually are.

With the mixing of things in the Brisa gel, I have done just about anything from enamels to craft glitter to l&p powder, only thing I always do is do a clear layer on the nail at first (after bonding layer) make sure the thickness of the gell doesn't change, and when working with denser colours thin layers is the key IMO.

Have FUN!!!

ok, i know this post is over a year old, but i have just heard about this....so i cn put acrylic between two layers of gel, and gel between two layers of acrylic????? isnt there any problems with this?? how does that work with the disperstion layer from the gels??? would really love to learn about this....millions of ideas going through head with this tiny bit of info.
