I have been learning L&P at my local college. Managed to get one on one sessions for all of it which is absolutely brilliant. My teacher is really pleased with my progress and wants to start gels on Monday. When I started with the L&P I bought a CND retention starter kit to practice. Used friends and myself in the end rather than my daughter :) Am sporting my first ever set of acrylics -- literally and done by myself

What gel system would you suggest to go for? Brisa, Calgel, Ezflow or Biogel? I quite like all the colourful nailart with glitters and such that you can see on here. Can you combine the different systems i.e. Brisa and Ezflow? Is Brisa similar to Axxium by OPI? Could you get just one UV lamp or do you need one for each system? Also which gel is the best for 3D sculpting?

I hope you don't mind my constant questions.

if you are looking for fancy gels, i have never found the selection by lechat equalled. they have so much to choose from. theres some tutorials and ideas on my websites and the lechat link is LECHAT Nail Care Products if youd like to check out the range.

That all depends on what you want from your gel system.
I use Brisa and love it, it has amazing longevity, clarity, strength and non-yellowing. Opaque pinks for coverage, bold colours for mixing (incl black), paint on white as well as sculpting white (in both bright white and soft white), as well as the shimmers.

A lot of the nailart you see on here is done with L+P, however, it is possible to mix glitter with clear gel and also to use the bold colour gels to do nailart, when mixing colours the combinations are endless :D

It's not advisable to mix different systems.

Is Brisa similar to Axxium by OPI?
Not sure about that, although I believe that Axxium is a buff off gel, like Brisa.

Could you get just one UV lamp or do you need one for each system?
It's advisable to get the lamp that is recommended by your gel brand.
The following article should help you re the lamp issue - http://www.salongeek.com/general-articles/35947-choosing-uv-lamp-your-gel-system.html

Also which gel is the best for 3D sculpting?
I believe that NSI have recently brought out a new 3D sculpting gel, there was a tutorial done using another brand of 3D sculpting gel too, but I've forgotten the name.

I hope you don't mind my constant questions.
Hope that helps a bit

It all really depends on what your wanting to use gels for. Natural nail overlay or extensions. Personally for natural nail i would go with a soak off and for extensions i would use the other gels.

I use gels for natural nail and use the saok off and i absolutely love Akzentz! there are no salons in my area have it apart from me so when clients have it done by me and want infills or love the colour they have to come back to me. It's great!
