No joanne it doesn't .as i play a real guitar sometimes .You can't learn notes, scales, chords, correct hand posture, basically any technique you need to play the guitar by playing Guitar Hero. The only exception is using the whammy bar there are no strings on the guitar for Guitar hero hun just pushing buttons..but it is good excercise and a good adult\kid jamming and bonding session.

we love it in our house, now i am crap at it lol, but the 3 kids are good, infact my eldest is ace on it, and they are now looking for the next one (saving pocket money like mad) they have it on PS2 and Wii, and they prefer the PS one i think

ive got to say , although there is no strings and you dont get taught chords and notes etc , i think it can help with real guitar, if they are already learning that is, my 9 year old is playing so much better, he is now picking up his elecy guitar and putting out a pretty good version of the some of the songs he plays on GH, without sheet music, he is now playing by ear and working notes out for himself, he co-ordination has improved and he can move his fingers fast and smoothly , so his playing has deffo got better lol

it is a brill game, but can be very annoying, when your trying to watch a film or something and they are in the other room and all you can hear, is 'hit me with your best shot' being screamed out and the tap tap tap tap as his fingers hit the buttons for a 50 note bonus play grrrrrr:eek:
