Hello geeks,

I have just had my first go with shellac on my own nails. i have followed all the application proceedures, but when it came to wiping off the inhibition layer at the end, it seems to have wiped off some of the colour, please can someone help me as to why this has happened? Has it been applied to thickly?(I am not a nail geek)

Thank you

Not an expert as have only used it a few times myself so far but my guess would be that you are not completley covering the layers of colour with the top coat. If the colour was completley covered it should be sealed in tight under the top coat. Maybe you missed a bit around the sidewalls?

Thank you. That sounds right as it is around the side walls.

Im sure it will be easier to apply on a client rather than myself.

top coat needs to cover all of the colour xxxxx

it's really easy on a client xxxxx

You can always apply another layer of topcoat over what you have done to completely encase and you wont notice a thing. It's only a bit of the colour inhibition layer that you have wiped off ... the colour will still be on the nail where it cured.

I noticed that when I did my first sets with Shellac, esp with the bright red colors. It's not happening anymore.
I think the color has to be totally encased with the top coat. There was some sidewalls that I missed a little on my nails and I ended up wiping off the color.

This happened to me when I did Fedora, I wondered if it was because of the top coat, so I double checked when I did tutti frutti and it seemed to be alot better :o

Thanks for advice. Getting on better now :D

It looked like the colour had come away completely, if this happens how could you fix it (I know it shouldnt and a bit more practise and im sure it wont). Would you be able to apply more colour and top coat, or would you start again?

Yes you could but best to do it right from the start-
