Hi all, I am newly trained in eyelash extensions using Hollywood Lashes. I am really struggling with them. Having difficulty applying. Feeling really frustrated with it all. I am unsure whether the lashes I am using are ideal. Which brand do you recommend? Lash Perfect do a kit including training for £325.00, does anyone know if this is good value and a good lash to use? Please help. I had a nightmare today with a client. Thanks in advance. Sian

hi sian
what are you having difficulty with? is it the lashes ie, the shape of the lash or the thickness or is it the glue or is it your technique? i know this is a lot of questions but it will help me to answer you.
p.s lash perfect do have a kit including training for around that price but there is VAT to go on the price, hope that atleast helps you a little.

Have you called Hollywood Lashes about your problems-im sure they would be able to help you.
If you feel you need extra training but do not waant to use Hollywood Lashes, there are many reputable companies-lash perfect is one of them as well as Flirties, Nouveau etc.
Practice is the main thing I found with lash extensions-you'll get there with the correct help, products and procedures.
Good luck

Hi, thanks for reply. I think it's probably more technique to be honest. In my starter kit I have only been given J lashes and from the research I've done on here, therapists seem to use b and c?? I know that as with all beauty treatments it's a case of practice, practice, practice. I'm loathed to throw any more money at it if I simply am unable to acquire the skill required. Which lashes to you suggest I buy? I treated a more mature lady today and she had very find, feathery eyelashes that all pointed different ways and crossed over. The J lashes I used just wouldn't lie correctly and I had difficulty isolating the lashes. It was driving me insane. Any help would be fab.

I know you may not beleive me, but trust me when I say we have all been where you are:green: I can remember thinking how rubbish I was and wanting to throw my tweezers at someone, but it truely does take practise. Isolating the lash does tend to be one of the things we all have trouble with at first as we are learning to be ambidextrus (sp?). My biggest tip I can give is to slow down, make your main focus be getting the lash on straight and bonded correctly. Speed will come in time. You need to make sure your technique is spot on first. I think my first set i did took 2 hrs and I got about 14 lashes per eye on!!
J curl lashes should go fairly easily on anyone really, except maybe really curly lashes! i dont tend to use many J's now, but did at first. Also remember that some people just arnt suitable for lash extensions. You cant make a purse out of a sows ear as they say! If your brave enough, put some piccys on and we can all help you if you think that would help.
Keep at it xx

That's great, thanks everybody. I've just come off the phone to Hollywood Lashes (thank you whoever suggested that!). They were really helpful and gave me guidance over the phone. Believe it or not, a lot of the stuff they mentioned were not even taught on my course. I think I've been a bit ripped off. I feel a bit better about it and will perservere. The chap I spoke to mentioned using eye tape to help ensure you isolate the correct lash (ie the correct maturity). I couldn't fully understand what he meant. How do I stick eye tape on and where? Anybody know? He also said that for a basic look, use J curls and start with a 12mm in the centre 10mm either side and then finish with an 8mm either side of that. Anyone agree or disagree? Isn't it awful that we pay for intensive training courses at supposedly reputable establishments but get inferior training. I've got an excellent client base and feel that some of my clients are losing faith because of this ... grrrrr ...

When you say eye tape I can only think he means surgical as in to tape the lower lashes out the way. I can't see how you are supposed to separate the new from the mature-this would take ages and with time you will come to learn which natural lashes to apply to.

In terms of the way he has suggested to apply the lashes, this does depend on what the client is looking for. I personally disagree with the way he has told you. I normally put 8mm in the corner-closest to the nose then 10mm then 11mm then 12 mm on the outer corner although sometimes drop 1mm on the outer corner if the 12mm is too long.

By doing it the way he says I would think the lashes would end up looking for triangular shaped-but again thats just my opinion.
My advice is to grab a patient friend or friends and get practising-you will soon get the swing of things!

hi there i was taught with lash perfect, they taught you the taping method. basically you weave the eyelashes half them and bring them back and tape them up so you can focus on half the lashes one you done the lashes you release the others . you use micropore tape but use your fingers to take some of the stickiness off. when you are takin the tape off you need to do it gently we were shown how to do this by teasing it gently forward then the kinda sideways. i am so sorry i am hopeless at explaining when writting it down. there will be a video on you tube mayby. any question just ask i might even be able to exlain better lol:)

He could be talking about taping up the layers of the lashes??
So you could sort of lift the first layer of lashes and VERY GENTLY stick them up out of the way, then that makes the layer left easier to isolate. Or you lash the top layer, then gently grap the very tips of the extensions with the tape and tape them out of way to reveal another layer of lashes to lash. Both methods you must de-tack the tape so it looses its stick a bit or you could pull lashes out!! Also, some clients just cant tolerate being taped like this as it makes their eyes water. remember, if you do use this method they must still not be able to see daylight!
Hope that makes a bit of sense, lol

Ooops we replied at the same time, hahah:lol:

Ooh this sounds interesting, I trained with Flirties and were not trained this, im off to try and find a video on Youtube as at the moment I cant picture exactly how this would work without causing discomfort to the client.
