Hi,
This may be a daft question so apologies in advance if it is! I have a 1000cc Hive heater with a removable pot with wipe bar. Now do the tins of Perron rigot wax sit inside the pot or should it be transferred into the pot. I have only just got my equipment so still fairly new to it.
Cheers

I used to use Perron Regot Christal Ocean strip wax and I used to stand the pot directly into my Hive 1000 wt heater (without the inner bucket of course). I didn't like to decant it into the inner bucket worrying that it might spill over. I have read posts on here that lots of people do in fact decant Perron Regot waxes into the Hive heater buckets by turning the PR pot upside down and sitting on the wipe bar and allowing the wax to heat gently and drip into the bucket below. You will obviously need to keep an eye on it, especially if you are topping up a part can.

If using non strip wax, I find the beads much easier to manage as they can just be poured in as and when you need them.

HTH

Hi I have 2 hive wax 1000cc heaters and also use peron rigot warm and hard waxes. I pour them out into the bucket in the heaters. I am not sure whether the cristal ocean wax tins are tall enough to sit in a 1000 heater?

The cristal ocean comes in 800g tins so fits perfectly into a hive 1000c heater. I put my tin straight into the heater but have mine in the inner bucket. Can't be bothered with all that decanting-too much mess! You don't need to decant anyway as it's a perfect fit.

Oh maybe I used to sit it in my 500wt heater then? I know I used to put a removable wipe bar on the top of the Cristal Ocean tin so I could wipe my spatular. I forget, its that long since I used PR and I have four heaters (3 x 1000wt pls the 500 wt) but I was sure I used the larger heater.

Sorry if I have caused any confusion.

800g tins defo fit in Hive 1000cc heaters, either directly in the heater, or in the bucket. But if you put the tin inside the bucket you need to pull the wiper bar off :)

Well the tin does fit but there was a small gap around the outside which i thought would get messy, i have just tilted it on its side and rested it on the wipe bar. It has started pouring out nicely. Can i just say, this is a great site, getting/sharing advice with people who are hands on is far better than reading a theory book!

If you put the tin directly in the inner bucket, there should be no gap. Then just pop a collar on to catch any drips. I have to say that i put my tins in the inner bucket and i can still use the scraper bar. I have to lift it up a bit but it still works fine.

Does this affect the temperature of the wax, ie does it make it harder to work with the wax and maintain temperature?

I always have my heater on 3 for cristal ocean and that's perfect.
All heaters are different so you need to find a working temperature.
It doesn't make it any harder to maintain the temperature.
I also use berins blue. I put the beads in an 800g tin and then put this in the inner bucket too. Obviously you need to adjust your temperature according to weather and how much is in the pot but that applies to whatever heater you are using. I have my cristal ocean runny like water and my berins blue like honey so i can usually tell by looking at them that they are at the correct temperature.

If you place the can of wax in the heater, you will need to turn the temp up a bit as the gap between the heather and the can makes it cooler. x

PMSL, as you know Kimmi, I have been having problems with the heating of my wax.... it must be because I have been placing the tin directly in the Hive 1000cc heater, which does create a gap. Now it dawns on me why the temp needs to be higher... doh :lol: I never thought of that.

hi guys, i also have gotten 1000 cc hive heaters with perron rigot wax (euroblond and cristal ocean), what temp does your heaters normally work for these waxes - i thought it should be 80 but this felt far too hot wjen i was using my hubby as my guinea pig lol x

Turn it down a bit if it feels too hot!
I tend to go by the consistency rather the reading on the temperature dial. If it's too thick turn up a nadge, too runny and I turn it down. Unless, of course, it's Cristal Ocean, in which case it should be like water. Test it on yourself before attacking a client!
It's a bit of a black art, dependent upon ambient room temperature and humidity.

Yes it does Chrissie, so just turn it up a bit. xx

Thanks Lynn and Kim, should get it out again tonight x

I use the 800g Escential Green Tea in tins direct into the heater, and I then pop one of the PR disposable cardboard collars around it to catch any little spills. Today I also tried the Homme roller cartridge ... I have never waxed a pair of hairy legs so quickly!! Loved it ... shame they don't make the Homme wax in tins as well.
