Hi !
I have recently started introducing "make your own face mask" into my pamper parties for kids (this one in particular is for 10-14 yr olds). Basically they sit around the table and i demonstrate the basic cleanse, tone, mask, moisturise on the host and the other girls pair up and copy.
I am trying to think of different things i can get the girls to mix with the mask to make the whole thing more fun ! So far i have tried cocoa powder (went down a treat!) and mashed strawberry and banana.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance :) x

Peanut butter,marmite,lemon curd.:)
How about the powders from the wholesalers kaolin, fullers earth, calamine magnesium, rose water glycerine, almond oil and witch hazel.

Honey, natural yoghurt & oats are all traditional masque ingredients :)
Sounds fun, can I come?! :green:

Sounds fun! :)

Avocado and honey is great for dry skin.

Tomatoes, browned apple (great for acne), Baby milk, Soya milk, Coconut milk, shea butter (can be bought off ebay), honey, fresh oranges, lemons and grapefruit (eat dead cells and brighten skin). Mix gram flour with a litle oil and herbs make into balls for fab scrub that can be used on face and body.

this is making me peckish!!!! :)
some great ideas !! yes it is loads of fun, the mums love it too. Not sure about marmite though!!! ha ha

How about melon and grapes?

i think you have a wonderful idea there.

cheekiness on my part - how many children do you do at anyone time, and how much do you charge per child.

thanks and have a wonderful day

Hi - I love the idea for the pamper parties but i wanted to ask if anyone has any really great combinations for facial masques to use on a day to day basis - I have always just used bought powders and water such as rose water and calomine powder, fullers earth etc but i want to offer some more specialist skin specific masques or face treatments without using a named brand any suggestions??????

digary - that particular party works best when there are 4 or more girls (most ive done is 12) and i charge £10 a head for just the facial one. With options to add on other treatments for the girls. Prices tend to depend on your area though.

eden beauty - i dont use any homemade ones mask on myself on a daily basis but i do know that aloe vera gel is great for sensative skin ! I used it as a mask in my first pregnancy and was really impressed with the results

MARMITE!!!!! Oh my!

I love using fresh food products on the skin. You want to talk to some indian ladies who do traditional treatments, they use things like turmuric or pepper etc on the skin.

This is a really useful thread, and wondered if people would clarify what each particular products effect on the skin is???

I know some of the basics, but would be good to have a refresher as my minds gone (I blame the kids lol!).

Heres the turmeric recipie

Turmeric Facial Mask
This is the traditional mask, also used for a bride, seven days in advance of marriage.
Take in a cup half a cup of besan (gram flour), 2 tsp of turmeric powder, 2 tsp of sandal wood powder, 2 tsp of ghee or almond oil, add some water to make a paste. Apply to face and whole body and leave for 5-10 minutes. Rub with pressure with both palms and fingers to remove all the paste.

No idea what benefits it has but it seems so popular with my asian clients who rave about it.

have you considered olive oil as a cleanser too. This is the weirdest thing in the world, but I have seen acne clear up in a month with this alone!!

Apparently its because the oil dissolves oil, and eats away the sebum in the pores and unblocks the skin. The oil creates a barrier and stops the skin from being dehydrated and working twice as hard.

Don't know how it works just that it has and it does!

For those that thought i may have been serious about marmite etc...it was a joke.
I think you have to be very careful when mixing up your own recipes using food to put on clients, especially children, with so many allergies about.I know its petty but insurance is petty and if you were to have an allergic reaction in anyone if you were using ingredients or made up masks meant for the purpose you would probably be ok.With food you almost certainly wouldn't.
I am actually having these no win no fee companies ringing me asking me if i have had any accidents or anything else that may have happened to me that i might want to make a claim for.So please be careful what you are doing with a paying customer.

i wouldnt use anything silly on a childs skin , but fruit and chocolate quite harmless (providing they dont have any allergies) and all the parents have to sign consent forms before hand so im fully covered incase one of them decides to eat the mask :$ :) another reason why i only do this party for older children :)

its so interesting to hear about different cultures that use things on their skin that i have only ever put in my cooking!

Still check with your insurance though.Because they often won't accept disclaimers. They may not even cover you for working on children and hate to add to it but if you arent already you should also be crb checked.I know it sounds ridiculous but thats unfortunately the way it is now.

You dont have to be CRB checked do you? I thought that wasnt compulsory unless you employed someone.

I tried to get a CRB check but you cannot get them on yourself, a compnay has to do it on your behalf when your employed by them.

The insurance thing is a bit iffy. Always worth having written clarification off them.

I know some insurance companies are funny if you use fresh products in treatments too.

Its just the world gone crazy!

my insurance covers me to work with children and as long as the ingredients added to the masks arent in the longggggggggg list of things u cant put in facial/body products then its fine, has to be backed up with a consent form obviously, as is everything.

and luckily i am crb checked although scarily its not compulsary. I couldnt get it done myself either i had to go through another business as your right you cant get it done yourself, i think this is the reason that its not compulsary.

I think you do if you are doing childrens parties and that kind of thing. It would be the same as say a childrens entertainer. In a way it is ridiculous and in another its not because if you are in a group of youngsters touching them it kind of makes sense.

Now thats interesting that its not compulsory or that you cant get a check without being in a company. There is a lot of confusion with it because i am checked by the school because i am in contact with kids at discos etc with the Pa ,but i would have to be checked again for any other place i went to.

i have ezema and its come out really bad on my face at the min so has anyone got any ideas on how to make it look dryness free and smooth!
