Hello Geekers!!!

I have another new client this week. YEA!!
Anyhoooo,,, she said that her old nail tech would only even rebalance every other time......so... new set.....rebalance,,,,soak off and new set,,,,, rebalance,,,,,,,,,soak off and new set,,,,,,rebalance,, etc.
Her old nail said it was the way to do it as if you didn't soak off every other time, the enhancements became to thick.
Well, it's got me wondering.... am I right. I rarely soak off. I file down and rebalance nearly everytime. My enhancements are never too thick.... but am I wrong not soaking off more often?
Sorry if it seems dumb, but it really did make me think.......
Thanks all

well Kirsty, i know im not as qualified as some of the more experienced geeks, and so im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

but ive been told and read on here and in the books etc, that you do not need to soak off regulalry, if you apply the products correctly (as you are) they dont get thick surely thats what the word rebalance means, to make the nails even and balanced and perfect as a new set? so no hun, I would say you are correct, i think sometimes people soak off more often , because they struggle to make the nails look like a new set, but if you can then why go through the effort of soaking off?

hths xx

It depends what she was using...there are some gels that don't buff down to well and need soaking off every 2-3 fills. Also there are some products (L&P/Gel) that don't stay crisp or hold up well....they discolour and start to look worn. Or she could have been a white tips fan.

Most high end quality products will produce a new looking set after each rebalance...so a soak off isn't required.

Cool!! Thanks girls!! I thought I was doing it right, but sometimes a niggle gets placed!!!

I can only comment on CND products as that's all I use, but I would look at someone as if they were crazy if they suggested a soak off for every other one!!!

You can rebalance until the cows come home with my products!! Its the application that can make them thick, not the products. I have one client who had a full set on shortly after I trained, and she's been having rebalances ever since, its actually a natural nail overylay now!

Perhaps this other lady was using an inferior brand that isnt very durable? I would check with your brand supplier and educator to find out if there is a shelf life on the enhancements created with your chosen brand

Well Hun, I use CND products too and the odd EzFlow, and I infill, rebalance, infill, rebalance and so on for ever and a day!

I rarely soak off and do a new set, probably my clients have 1 new set every 12 months or so!

Some clients differ from others with regard to how hard they are on their enhancements, but generally it's rare for me to soak & redo new set.

To be honoust i never soak off ... I don,t see the need for it either since i keep my application thin every time again, and with cnd i don,t have any discoloration whatsoever. I do a rare soak off when a customer wants to remove the enhancements, that's it.

I have worn gels continuously for almost 4 years I never have had them removed, they always look beautiful. I have them filled every 2.5 weeks.

Oh if there is discoloration in the CND products on everyone, what can it be then?
I have been told to soak off, because it discolours.....Haven't seen that though as I have only done soak off's as told.
