So Friday gone I had to rush my mum into the hospital early in the morning and leave her there cause I had a client booked in at half 9. I get to the salon and set up only to get a text at 9.26 to say she has to cancel!

Then today I've been pretty busy with clients wanting appointments but all at the same times (after 4) Im booked until midnight doing a pamper party and had 2 fake tans booked in (2 hours worth of work) only to have them not turn up and not even call to cancel when i could have easily booked in treatments for other clients.

I decided at the start of the week that i wasn't going to work good friday as i hadn't taken any bookings for it. I've now had 4 clients ring to try and book in when it's tomorrow!! Is it just me or am I just getting peed off to easily?

Hey I'm having one of those weeks too.

Went to drayton manor for the day, had an appointment for 6, got back in plenty of time and she hasn't turned up.

On Tuesday I was working 9 til 9 and someone didn't turn up, it was for a 3 hour appointment, i was just happy for the break then lol.

Awww I know how you feel
I left my poorly cat last week to go to work for one client ( half hour drive away) I got there and she never turned up.... I was fuming!
Even more angry because I did cancel my clients for the next day and took him to the vets but sadly he passed away, he was only young too.

But had my client cancelled that appointment I would have took my kitten to the vets instead of choosing work over him.
I did only think he had a sore leg at the time, and thought he would be ok for another day if I kept him off it, But I still would have took him that day if she would have let me know. So maybe he would have stayed alive, or at least not have been in pain for that extra day :(

Bit of a rant I know, I'm sorry...Still a bit upset I suppose.
And I understand that sometimes things come up for clients that they can't control . but I am also fully aware that some people just dont think it is important to ring and cancel if they ARE able to.

I have days like this too. Your totally not on your own!!
It's so annoying!
xxx

i don't think you are being silly at all, i get weeks like that and it really gets on my nerves, i find a nice large glass of chilled rose always helps me feel a lot better, as does looking forward to the next week. x

Eventually you will get to the stage when you have enough clients that you can refuse to pander to the timewasters. If someone messes me about twice, I simply refuse to book them. Full stop. I will not do their hair if they have that little respect.

PS, you need a hell of a big clientelle first before you get militant with appointment hoggers!

oh persianista

I am praying for that day lol

xxx

It will come, it takes a long time though, so be patient!!

Im praying for that day as well. Thats such a sad story about the kitten :(

Obviously it wasn't the clients fault that my kitty died... I should have cancelled work that day and took him straight the vets to be honest,
Mind you even the vets didnt know at first, as it was internal there was no way of knowing, BUT I just wish people would realise the importance of a little phonecall to cancel.

Again today another client not turn up, Which ended up me sat in the salon for 4 hours with nothing to do... If she had of cancelled, I could have at least come home and got a few jobs done or something,

It really annoys me, I give it 15 minutes now and if they haven't shown by then appointment is gone, My last client of the day nearly went without her honeymoon nails as she was 15 minutes late, and I had just grabbed my bag ready to go.

I really need to work out a way of preventing this as much as possible...
How though ! :confused::evil:

You are too generous. I give them 3 mins and then their mobile gets called! And to be honest even then they are told they are too late and will have a reduced treatment time.

My regulars (99% of them are) NEVER turn up late.

I have had a few messers including one lady who turned up 30 mins late for a pedi with about 4 family members in tow. I had to say i couldnt do full treatment as i had a client booked after. ( i didnt but you need to "educate" people"

Sometimes i think clients think because my salon is in my house that i have nothing better to do than wait around for them, so basically i have a zero tolerance policy.

Muck be about at your own peril! LOL

My regulars never mess me about either, It always seems to be new clients...
I just can't think of a way of enforcing anything to stop them.
It is a massive pain in the arse though when I travel half hour to work for client not to turn up, only to have to travel half hour back home again....... It does make for a very grumpy Emm's..

It hasn't happened too often since I worked at the salon, but it is massivly annoying me now

I had a wedding party booked in on saturday just gone. 4 of them for a wedding make up trial. They'd left a deposit for the actual wedding day make up to secure the place for that day. I rang them 15 minutes after their appointment to ask if they were just running late. No answer! I left a voicemail and said they had until an hour to turn up otherwise they would lose their deposit for their wedding as payment for the wedding trials they hadn't turned up to. That was at 11 and i close at 5 on a saturday. I had 4 missed calls and 2 voicemails at 7 at night and I dont re open now until wednesday so they'll now have to wait until then for me to ring them back. Is that too harsh of me do you think?

what was wrong with her? swine flu? emergency amputation?

sorry but 1. i dont answer calls out of hours (certainly not at 7 on a saturday
2. thats a joke that they didnt bother coming or answering the phone.
3. yes dont call them til wednesday. unlike them, you have not promised a time you will be returning their call.

rage!!!

I had a regular client booked in for a saturday which she didn't turn up for. Said she was sick - she called the morning of the app to cancel - ok fair enough if you are sick . So she booked in for the next Saturday and again cancelled the morning of the app to cancel - sick again. So on the third Sat when she tried to book i asked her for a cash deposit or her credit card as i needed to secure the booking- if the cancellation was less than 24 hrs 50% of the total treatment price would be taken off the card. Guess what - she didn't cancel.

Now i know its not easy to do but if a new client doesn't turn up i will ask for a deposit the next time although normally a new client if they didn't turn up the first time they won't come back.

i know i do feel like screaming sometimes too. . . . . .

How about sending clients a text 24hrs before their appointment (like the dentist does) and explain if they need to cancel to do so asap so you can rebook out the time. That way it's fresh in their minds and hopefully will give them a kick up the bum to turn up. Hth :) xx
