Hey geeky buddys:hug:

If you had to do your nails to match this dress.....how would you do them?

NO FRENCH ALLOWED (well typical french anyway)

LOOOVE the dress, hon! Gorgeous colours!

How about a black and gold 'base' colour (maybe abstract blocks of colour?) and then maybe creamy coloured (or white) flowers?

Lil Linz had the most AMAZING L&P flowers all over her works mobile when we met up for our North Geek Meet! Maybe flowers like that...?

Just a thought anyway..............

Oh i love that dress hun!

I love the side veiw of the flower and think it would look lovely hand painted onto the nail, maybe just one finger of each hand then other parts of the design on the other fingers.
Not covering the whole finger but using one of the colours from the dress as the base colour and then putting parts of the design on.

God it's hard to explain what you see in your head :irked:

well im sure someone will give you a much more flambouant and amazing idea than me! specially as i'm still half asleep (yawn) but i'll try n be brave n say that I'd probably pick out the brown bits of colour from the dress (cos theres not so much of that colour than the others) and use that together with the yellow colour..maybe use the brown as the base and recreate one of the yellow flowers on top...(prob get a lil bit of white in or around bits of the flower to highlight it iykwim..i guess you could then jazz that up as much as you want...depends how wild you wanna go I guess! tbh i reckon you could use most colours with the colours of that dress without it clashing. (p.s. How hard is it to try and describe a picture in your head without it sounding ridiculous! lol)

Lovely dress - I would wear either plain black or plain gold polish with a gold northern lights topcoat - not a fan of nail art really:)

Amber, what about a black and gold version of the 'Versace Bling' nail you got done by Roofie! That would look great! Or you could do black french with gold leaf randomly over the top?

Yes I like angels and mandys ideas..much better than mine lol specially gold..that would be nice if you used bits of gold

thats what i was thinking !!!!

I do have some of the black left! and have various glitters !

IMAGINE how long that would take on 10 nails though:green:

I did a black french with gold leaf recently on a client im thinking that would prob do the trick!

Re - flowers? i am pants at them¬!

Thanks so far xx

My tendency, when matching nails to a dress is this:

Pick a colour that compliments it as your base, and use the colours that are 'in' the dress as the accents.
Why?
If pictures are taken, I don't want the nails 'dissappearing' because the hands are against the dress.
Know what I mean? Sort of a chameleon effect?
Like french on a bride. They dissappear against the dress. I hate that.
I like my nails to 'pop'. I prefer them to 'compliment' as opposed to blending in.

I would choose a different colour as a base, and then add a floral or abstract pattern in black and gold.
Or, choose your base colour, then add gold foils, with some black fliks or other 'black' bits or black lace.
etc..

hope I've made sense, and hope it helps.

I would see from my own ability first...

and from the event for which you've picked the dress.

like, I love and wear extreme nails all the time, EXCEPT for my best friend's wedding, just to let her on the spotlight and be sure no one looks at my hands instead of looking at her. see what I mean?

so on this idea, for this dress, I have one idea coming...
one is based on a White French, but doing your ring finger in black and Gold, possibly matching the print of the dress itself...

or on another level...
I would pick the print of the flower, the wide open one, and reproduce it. either in 3 d, striper, what you want, but, black. on a gold base.

If it were me i'd pick out the brown :D for my accesiories and nails, prob something delicate like encased lace would compliment this dress IMO

Ooooh, Artsy! Very classy. In my opinion, would compliment the dress perfectly.

Beautiful, what did you use please!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gone for the 'safe' option....black french with gold leaf looks good with the dress:green:

thankyou geeks

If it is for a competition, I would base the nail in black and do 3D flowers in white and then hand paint accents of antique and bright gold on the edges of the flowers. I would keep it simple but flawlesly done.

For a competition, the above (although very stylish) would not be considered enough or original. I've judged many a competition and it would score low compared to the work others put into such things.
