Hi

i have stumbled across an american website selling wholesale mac make up, how do i find out if the mac make up is genuine? or if its fake.....

also why is the fake mac a no go, why does everyone want to avoid them when they know its fake, are they using something in them thats harmful? whats the difference in using fake mac to the cheap brands you get in superdrug - NYC or miss sporty?

i should think its fake, wouldnt imagine colour pay off is very good with the fake mac - can you not sign up for the mac pro discount card, you can get up to 40% as a mua
alternatively, i know a lot of mua who swear by nyx singles for mac eyeshadow dupes, although havent used them myself
have a good look around www.makeupgeek.com - if you do a search for mac dupes, comes up with best shades

I would think fake make up wouldn't have as good depth of colour or lasting power.

tweezer happy, what would you call fake make up? would it really be make up ranges copying other make up ranges or is it more of the low end make up's? eg. miss sporty/nyc/beauty uk etc

thanks

Buying "fakes"..."copies" of anything is wrong for so many reasons....here are a few...(this was about fake "UGG" boots but the message is the same for whatever the product is...

What is counterfeit and why is it wrong:

A counterfeit product is any imitation or fake made with the intent to deceive the consumer into believing it to be genuine.
Our goal is to help our customers to be aware of counterfeit footwear that is being sold to unsuspecting buyers as genuine UGG® Products.

Counterfeiting is illegal. It has a significant impact on the global economy, removing tens of thousands of jobs and costing the economy an estimated $512 Billion of legitimate revenue a year.

Counterfeiting is not a victimless crime. Consumers who believe they are purchasing genuine items are left with inferior items that cannot live up to the consumers expectations. Counterfeiters also hurt manufacturers, retailers, and the economy.

Counterfeiters do not pay taxes nor do they provide fair wages or benefits to their employees. They frequently use child labor and have been known to fund terrorism, participate in identity theft, and often fail to deliver goods that were paid for, among other crimes. When you purchase a counterfeit product, you are funding and supporting this criminal activity.
Counterfeiters are not accountable to human rights and environmental regulations such as child labor laws, anti-sweatshop laws, and restricted substances laws.

The basic human rights of the workers employed by these counterfeiters are often compromised, as well as the workmanship and quality of the counterfeited product.

I would class fake anything something that puts a name to something that is not their own.

A fake handbag might say Prada on it and look the same as the one bought in the shop, but it was bought down the market and the zip or strap breaks after a few uses.

Pay the same or a wee bit more for a nice bag from Next and it'll probably last you a bit longer.

Fake MAC would be the fake Prada and other brands fom Boots/Superdrug would be your Next bag.

I'm not a MUA but buy a lot of make up. I've seen the fake MAC and NARS eyeshadow pallets. They are rubbish. Such wishy washy colours, don't last long and the case flimsy.

I've bought loads of good make up from Boots and Superdrug overthe years but have to admit I'm a bit snobby when it comes to make up. I get so excited going into Frasers and SpaceNK. I love drooling over everything and I love getting my purchases home and playing with them.

why has there not been anything done about copying other brands? is there just too much out there to keep a close eye on it?

Are you talking about counterfeit stuff as a whole? Clothes, shoes, handbags, make up, skincare, perfume, jewellery, the list goes on.

If people stop buying it, people might stop making it.

I'm pretty sure they will be fake. As far as I know m.a.c don't do wholesale for shops etc. They could be dangerous as they may have been produced in a dirty factory, glitter particles to sharp edged for use on eyes, dangerous chemicals, cheaply produced and probs tested on poor animals xx

What is the URL of the website?

A friend of mine bought fake MAC pigments online and gave me on to try... my god they were awful - no colour pay off at all! There are ways you can spot the fake ones for the real ones on places like ebay etc.

I agree, the fake stuff is awful, but it's a real job to spot the counterfeit versions. There was an article on the internet the other day showing the real versions and the fake versions of lots of different make-up pallettes. Now, I love make-up. I know, love and use lots of brands and think I'm comfortable with them. I got every question wrong!

The counterfeits are soooo good, it can be really difficult to tell them from the legit version. I'm sure if you saw them in daylight, rather than on a picture, it would be easier, but it's hard work.
