This is going to sound like a very strange question, I know lol. But is there ever an instance where tech's offer nails but without pedicures?

I'm only doing nails for myself for now, but if I do get on a course and in the future start doing it for friends and family, and maybe later as a mobile business, I have a real aversion to feet lol. Right about now, your either laughing your head off or thinking...nutter :wink2:

I know, I know, lots of people don't like feet lol, but just looking at feet makes me feel physically sick :o (feel embarressed admitting it lol), but is it something that would totally limit a client base totally or something that I'm just going to have to try and overcome?

I do nails but I don't do pedicures I hate feet so I know how you feel :) hth

I know how you feel - I had a HUGE dislike of feet, and when it got to the pedicure part of my course, I refused to do it, and was told I wouldn;t get my qualification if I didn't. My tutor sat me down and said

" your hands have been in dirty places without realising it all day - changing nappies, door handles, touching money, shopping troleys and baskets, but your feet have just been in your shoes"

I have to say, that made me see it in a different way, adn after that I was fine!

Hope it helps xxx

I've been thinking about it since I posted the thread and wondered about having latex gloves on, but I still don't think I'd be able to hold someones foot lmao, I'm ok with my kids but thats it........ never let it be said I have a foot fetish lol :lick:

I do pedicures but not manicures!

If you are self employed... you can offer whatever you like!

But you will definitely be missing out on business if you don't offer pedicures because they are hugely popular.

Although I'm not sure I'd want mine done by someone who couldn't bear to touch them

How about choosing someone you know who has really nice feet, a friend or a family member, and see how you go! With gloves on of course

Just go for it! Honestly, after a couple of feet you will feel fine, and after you have worked on them, you'l make them look so good, and the client will be so happy, you'll not know what the problem was in the first place! YOu can make a HUGE difference on feet than on hands - your clients will be delighted xxx:D

I didn't particularly like feet and hated my feet being touched even more, but since I've been doing my City & Guilds NVQ in Nail Services I've started to think they aren't so bad afterall.

We had tons of practice on each other so I eventually got used to them and having mine touched. Even now, if someone asks me to do a pedi I'm a little hesitant about it but I go for it, and I'm sure after doing many more of them it'll just become natural.

As already said before, you can make much more of a difference on feet than on hands as they are rarely looked after!

Just go for it, try it out on the course and if you do eventually start working for yourself and you really can't stand feet you can opt out of the pedi's. At least you can say you gave it a try though. :)

I have known quite a few therapists who do not do pedicures. Some of them hate feet and some just don't want to do feet. As Zoe says above, you are self employed and you can offer what you want. You certainly do not have to offer services that you don't want to do.

Take the pressure off yourself and enjoy your business, you may change your mind later but you certainly shouldn't pressure yourself! :D

i used to hate feet but now i quite like doing them.

do a couple of friend and family who have nice feet and see how you go

Awwww I am the same y'know, I don't mind doing toenails at all, paint, gel , minx etc... But pedicures give me goosebumps when I think about it, I am going to try to get over it as much as possible, well I'll have to really, I have my spa mani & pedi course on wednsday ! I'm the same about my own feet, I've only had ond pedi off my best friend when we were in college, I hated having my feet touched by her and kept my hands over my face the whole time! I think mine isn't so much that it's feet, if it was I wouldn't be able to do toenails, I think it's a massage and intimicy thing I have a problem with !

phew, I'm not the only one then lol, was starting to think I was weird :D

I can't actually do my own feet, got a problem with one joint and can't lift my leg up high enough and bending forward for so long locks my back up. I've been having my nails done for 18mths and only just let her do my toes 2 weeks ago.

If I manage to do a course and do eventually progress onto being self employed, will see if I'm so squeamish then.

thanks x

Hi,

I know how you feel!! I don't 'do' feet at all, and I have never trained to do them either. I am a mobile tech, but I dont think it has really had a bad effect on my business, I've only ever had a few enquiries about pedicures, and I've been in business for 5 years!!
So I wouldn't worry hun.....HTH's!:)

That's up to you, but won't most proper nail education classes require you to do feet to become certified?

I told myself I wouldn't touch feet ever, but once I learned that pedicures was part of the required curriculum, I sucked it up and did it. It's not that bad as long as you wear gloves and keep an odor killing spray at hand.

Besides, doing feet makes you more money, especially in the summer. You'll miss out on a huge chunk of your business if you're planning on sticking to natural nails.

i hate feet as well, ive just recently had a big boost in my mobile business and in 1 week I had 3 pedicures, now if I would have turnt these down would have been over 50 quid.
i hate feet but i do do pedicures, i dont promote it but if someone asks for it, i do it, i just try and focus thinking do nails, thinking its only nails.

i had compliments after my pedicures, saying they couldnt believe how good i made their feet look so i was chuffed with that but i will never like feet

I'm really new to this and i'm booked on to a pedicure course. Is it ok to wear gloves when you do a pedicure?

It's not so much the toes I don't like doing it's the filing the dead skin....& when I dust my room I can't help wondering how much of the dust is dead feet skin.. silly when I don't mind nail dust & they are one of the same!.
I've recently started using callus peel so the skin is scraped off instead of filed & that seems to help my aversion.

I'm the same - can't stand the thought of touching someone's feet, full of corne, bunions, sweat, smell, etc, yuck!.

I can't stand my feet being touched. When I have a leg wax my therapist insists on waxing my big toes lol, I'm no yeti I can assure you:confused: anyway I can't bear having my toes touched, so much so that I have instructed my husband that when my time is up I don't want a toe tag lol. He said I wouldn't know about it

I really want to do a pedicure course and get over this phobia. I have diabetes and don't think I can have a pedicure myself. Perhaps thats just what I need to do, have a pedicure, diabetes or no diabetes and then do a course. Simples
