recently my client has experienced severe lifting from the cuticle area down wards,

if i do normaly suffer with slight lifting its usually at the sidewalls near the smile line, after about three weeks

anyway she has been a regular of mine for two years, and goes between 3 and 4 weeks for her rebalances and never has any problems,

but the last two times shes been back this severe lifting has occured, last time i saw her i switched her to gel to see if this would improve, and she came back today with all of them off apart from her little fingers:eek:
i have asked all the usual questions, change in meds, hand cream, change in lifestyle, ( she is a headmistress for a primary school and is due to retire this year)
the only think she can think of that has been any different in her life is that she was on antibiotics in february for a chest infection and thats it!

i said i would ask as im am completely at a loss as whats to do with her,
please advise me as she is lovely and i want her to have lovely nails like shes been used to

ps i use cnd liquid and powder and brisa gel

Some antibiotics can cause problems,
is she wearing them any longer than what she used to do ?

no nothing different, she has the same all the time, and at each appt they are taken down to very short ( like a classic french manicure) just to her fingertips
and if they get too long , she files them down in between appts
though she hasnt had to do this for a while as shes been back more often than she should do, as shes having these problems

really can antibiotics cause problems???i didnt know this

Some can but not all do,
when you add something different to your immune system is has to work differently for a while

i have advised her to just keep her nails short , lashings of solar oil, and that i will see her in a month,
and that i would ask to see if anyone knew why!!!

how can i find out if the antibiotics would have caused it, and how long should it take to get out of her system???
i did ask her the name of the antibiotics and they were just amoxicillen average dosage for 7 days,
i would be so happy if it was this, as otherwise im at a loss and dont want to lose her!!

ps thanks louise xx

Could the same apply to HRT?

Years ago when i used to have my nails done i never EVER got lifting but since ive been on HRT (albeit hit & miss:rolleyes:) i always get lifting on my index, middle & ring finger on my right hand, regardless of me doing them or another tech:irked:

That all depends on how fast her system works and we are all different,
the only thing you can do is wait and see if there is an improvement over time,
pips is right hormonal changes cause no end of problems and as she is an older lady this could be a high factor too
and noooo pips I'm not calling you old

good job :smack:

It could be hormones. Not necessarily HRT.
I have a client who is going through her menopause, she has hot sweats and her hands are severely clammy when I am doing her maintenance fills.
Anyway, we removed her overlays last week because they keep lifting after 7 years of perfect nails!

Ask your customer (in a tactful way!) if she may have a hormone inbalance!

my client is on hrt and has been for 10 yrs now, and has no other change in her symptons etc,
believe you me, ive asked her EVERYTHING lol!!

i will hopefully see her in four weeks, and put a demo nail on her and see how she gets on with that
thanks for all the help xx

Sometimes antibiotics cause lifting on some people, but not all. I really can't work it out, but it does seem to cause a problem sometimes.
