Sorry so she keeped moving, I just couldnt understand how it could be taking so long, why did she keep moving? I have done people with PCOS but hair is hair, but then again extremely sweaty clients (were talking dripping!) can be difficult you clean or wash the area put talc on it just absorbs the talc and yuck, tempting to send them for a tepid shower and yes I have done that and if they don't cool their skin a bit the skin reacts after. Was she sweating alot?

Just exactly how are you supposed to cool your own skin?!

think you are clearly missing my original post/question on how I can speed up which someone had already offered helped with.
Thank you for your post but the not helpful nor required.
Where did I say she needed a shower or cooling down??
Like I said at some point in everyone's career was are all learner And I'm lucky enough for my family/friends to pay for there treatments,I just wanted to know how to speed up in time and deal with PCSO clients like my sister.

I have totally been there effie  I had a client years ago that had hair of your description, I felt I was doing two full leg waxes each time. She was just one of those clients I accepted would take longer so booked out extra time for it. I suspected she shaved between appoinments but no amount of explaining would stop her doing it, the hair growth was just too strong. It didnt necessarily come out with the wax or broke. She also had skin cells growing over the hairs despite regular exfoliation it would happen.

It's funny how I waxed many clients with PCOS and no one had hair quite like this so it just gos to show the varying degrees of this condition and how one and another are never the same.others may have had similar experiences but none quite like yours so as for timing, youcouldn't have been totally normal speed and it's not a case of and i quote "whip the wax off and any left tweeze" !

You will get there and encourage her to keep regular with her appoinments.

Have you thought of recommending IPL hair hair reduction? The PCOS would have an effect of the amount of hair reduction achieved, but it may help to reduce it enough to a level that makes waxing appoinments better for both client and therapist.

I've done a review for them and have to say they're not cheap but I think they're really good for picking up tips on how to speed up your leg waxing and I found that she did a few things differently to me - some I now do her way but others I still prefer my own way :)

where can we read your review?

out of interest, how did you get asked to do it? I mean, don't take this the wrong way but I'm surprised they didn't ask someone with a bit more experience?

*waiting for the call to be asked to review Gigi's book*

A lot of it also has to do with the type of wax you use, if you use powder or oil, prior to applying wax. There are various types of waxes and methods. Do make sure you trim the hair first, a good pair of electrical trimmers are good for this. Don't worry about the time, this is something that will just come in time. The more you practice the better you will become.

Not all of us were experts when we started out either!

BTW, I use Perron Regot wax, one of the best on the market. A little more pricey than some of the others but well worth it when you see the results.

Good luck and keep practicing!

eternalascot - I have read a few of your posts and they seem to follow in the style you have presented on this thread.

And I have read one maybe two of your posts where your style of speech was measured and the advice was useful.

If you want other geeks to sit up and take notice when your name pops up on the screen you could try and adopt the second paragraph.

If you want to be perceived as talking nonsense and therefore disregarded the first style will do it.

There are two or three 'camps' that geeks fall into on this site ... do you really want to join 'that' one?

Peace and respect my lovely xx

With all due respect my issue with alot of these "therapists" posts are that they sound like they have done a very short course in something and that is the reason why they are not confident. Now before I get my head bitten off most well trained therapist even on leaving college are slightly slow but are confident none the less. My irritation at people who do short courses in a Del and Rodney manner to earn money, so they are slow and not confident. You may believe I am being cruel as this should not affect you or I, but fact is it does, these client having these sub standard treatment are saying to themselves "actually Im just as well waxing myself or shaving", hence taking money away from good therapist who would do a good job and the client would be hooked on waxing for life (were all winners then).

Since I have trained I have seen big changes in the beauty industry, firstly the quality of the standard of beauty therapists started to fall and I began getting girls in for work experience with no social skills or manners e.g if they worked on reception and a lady came in with a buggy they would watch the mother struggle and sit like a lump in the chair, these girls had been shown no manners in the home obviously, this is the tip of the iceberg to the stories I could tell.

In the last 5 years I have noticed an increase in the "Del Boy" salons, poorly decorated, looks a bit cheap, big on nails, no skin products ranges (perhaps they havent done their short course in facials) or good equipment and they do groupon deals to survive and they lie that they are HD trained and give coma brows which are dyed there are then gone within a couple of years. I find this sad and this does not make proud to be in this industry. Im sorry I do not come across as supportive but if we starting churning out better trained therapist they would not be in the position of losing their confidence and giving up. It is not the under trained therapist to blame, personally I blame three things the era of lets send everyone to university regardless of weather they were thick or not, that inturn left only the remedial types coming into this industry. The lowering of the colleges standards and the increase in short courses run often by people just trained themselves.

Yes some people will be all up in arms about this but this is frankly the truth!:wink2:

At what point did I say I was not confident? I didn't and In fact I've had clients come to me and says how happy they are and although I'm a little slow they prefer that as I'm very thorough and they keep coming back so I must be doing something right. My original post was purely about waxing pcso clients not weather your think I or anyone else Is trained to your standards. Yes I maybe new but that's doesn't mean I've not worked to get my qualifications.

Lol .. so why didn't you present your opinion in this style in the first place?

I understand your frustrations and you have made some valid points (not about you Effie!).

But your valid points will go completely unnoticed when you respond in the manner you seem to prefer.

It is clear you have passion and intellect - a winning combination methinks. But that is not what I generally think when I see your posts.

Now maybe you don't care what I or anyone else thinks, and why should you! Who am I? Who is anyone?

But if we imagine that this is a huge cyber-salon-workplace why would you choose to be that girl. You know the one I mean ... we all try to avoid her.

Yes I appreciating what your saying but the common theme amongst these types is "I'm worked hard I'm trained". Sadly this is the rather aggressive on the attack attitude that your met with. When I first trained and even to this day I can't get enough knowledge or training, you never stop learning, but therapists need a better grounding these days.

I was with two therapists last week one of us trained in the 70s, one the 80s and me in the 90s, we had all trained in the same place and spoke so fondly of our highly disaplined training. The one who trained in the 70s now only does a listers and owns a large business as does the lady who trained in the 80s, believe or not we were on a training course together, these people make me proud of my industry. I have been on couses in the past where the "ladies" on the course are rough and couldn't give a sh@t, I'm embarrassed to be associated with them and I fear this is the way the industry is going, an industry I love. They train nvqs in woman's prisons now and it shows, seriously I was offered a job about 7-8 years back.

This is going off topic and is quite quite unnecessary.

Effie ... are you ok lovely?

You don't need to defend or justify yourself to anyone either here in cyber space or in the real world.

You know who you are!!

You've had some good advice from some great waxers andI hope it helped.

Fair enough I have deleted this. I'm sure some geeks will know where I'm coming from with this. I still standby my comments about training today, but will shut up and only comment on specialised things in future. If things go at the rate they are the beauty industry will only be for fly by nights with a few gems hidden under the same bracket with the general public none the wiser as to who is good and who is poor. I passed a beauty salon the other day and they were eating chip suppers in reception and one smoking outside, this would of been unheard of in years gone by. Sorry but I'm not one of them!

Eternalscot your grammar is simply awful.
If your going to rant then please do make it easy to read.

Now lets get back to boosting Effies confidence as this is what this post is about!

Hehehehehe

I wish!
I hope!
I pray every day!

Not that I'm obsessed you understand :wink2:

As Effie's question about waxing clients with PCO has been answered by some experienced and knowledgeable geeks and she has acknowledged their help, then I think I will close this now.
I really don't want this to descend into personal comments regarding training, grammar etc.
HOWEVER.... I will finish off with this quote it is from the site rules, so most of you should know it already ;)

This is possibly THE most important of all commandments here. We have a low tolerance for members who show disrespect to others (even if the disrespect is somehow warranted). Rude and thoughtless posts are the fastest way to make you look like a right ass in front of the world. Its also a quick way to find yourself on the wrong side of a ban. If you can't say it nicely, go Facebook it.
