If these professionals are so fed up of answering the same newbie questions and repeating themselves, giving up their free time etc, then they don't have to? Nobody has got to come on here and answer questions.
As much as every one appreciates professional answers and the time they have taken to give their advice there is still no need for rude comments. If you've got nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.. If your so fed up of so called stupid questions, repeating of questions then don't answer, isn't it that simple? This isn't aimed at anyone in particular either x

You see I find your tone agressive here. I am not saying this to cause a debate but more using it as a demonstration of how you read something can "turn nothing in to something".

Not aggressive at all..
Really though, if they are so fed up then don't answer, it really is as simple as that..

Why should anyone take the time and make the effort to reply to a post if others can't be bothered to do make the effort to find the answer themselves? The same old questions keep coming up " why are my acrylics lifting" "why does my shellac not last" and the answers have been given so many times, if people make some sort of effort to look for it!
If no help was offered then I'm sure lots of moaning would be made about that! How more experienced geeks were not forthcoming and were being rude!

It's seems to me to be damned if you do, and damned if you don't at the moment!

I'm sorry that you feel you have to leave such a great resource. Sometimes I think things can be misconstrued because you are reading it, not hearing the tone or delivery of it...

..I've just had to think about what to say in another thread, because of what I felt as though someone was jumping down my throat and intimating that I'm not using genuine CND products, which I find offensive to be honest. But some people don't have a filter, and just say exactly what they are thinking, forgetting that what they say can cause offence, but did they mean to cause offence? No I would like to think not......so maybe we should ask more questions of each other, rather than making assumptions.

I also believe that when experienced techs make what can be seen as sweeping statements, I think it's more that they feel enraged and passionate that someone has paid good hard earned money to learn a fantastic industry, but as a newbie you are unaware of the basics, so exactly what have some newbies paid for? It's not a statement at the individual. Xxx

..IMHO xxxxxx

Salon Geek is a community...not a search engine.

We need questions to keep the forums fresh and moving, things change methods are refined. If you have answered it a hundred times before, let someone else take a turn ;)

If all the experienced Geeks stopped answering, I dread to think what would happen
Newly qualified geeks guessing at answers, posting their ideas on how things 'might be done' with no actual knowledge to back it up.

Yes....another chance for my all time fave film quote.....

This city (site) is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions....human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria

A wonderful illustration of my point. Nobody has been 'rude' to you.

If someone posted telling you to go stick your finger up your bum, that would be rude.

Pointing out that we do this for love of our craft isn't being rude.

I personally don't mind to answer a question more than once if I feel it will be useful to both the OP or indeed anyone else who comes across a thread, I do find it a bit annoying when someone asks a question and they are given clear and professional advice then decide they don't like the answers given so accuse others of being rude, making them feel small, bullying etc...etc... As someone else pointed out no one has to offer advice but personally I feel that if another professional has taken the time to answer my question, whether it not its what I wanted to hear, then I will at least have the decency to appreciate it, especially if it is on a subject i have no knowledge of. I agree that some may be shorter than others with their tone of reply but I am fairly sure this issue was discussed not so long ago. I think this site is a valuable source of information and there are professionals of different specialisation, previous background and experience who offer free advice and support.
I agree damned if you do, damned if you don't :-/

I repeat myself time and time again on here, so much so that I'm bored of reading my own stuff and I'm sure that everyone else is bored of reading it, but we all had to start somewhere and I like to help and poke my nose in. Also, if we just used the search engine, then we would still be waxing or whatever the way we were when the forum first started.

As an aside, I find some of the people asking for help very rude and not the other way round. I get PM's every day and most of them very polite and grateful, but some don't put their name, kiss me arse or nothing. Oh I can whistle Dixie for a thank you. Take Take Take!

Phew! That feels better.

How do you no no one has been rude to me?

But if someone did tell me to stick my finger up my bum I would find it hilarious in fact not rude lol!

Can I just ask I keep hearing "press the red report button" etc but if we're using the phone app there's no report button or anything is there? I did just install the latest update and can now heart on my phone (woohoo!) but I can't see any report button.

The experienced professionals on this forum deserve so much respect because they have made the good side of SG what it is today. They are who we all aspire to when we need answers and to have them on board is priceless and I would personally like to thank them all for their time and patience. We really don't say thank you enough xx

I can't verify this personally as I use the full site (perhaps other App users can confirm if there is or isn't a report button). If for some unknown reason there isn't, post a thread to My Forum .. I'm hoping you can at least do that.
