omg i could spend the next few hours on this topic ...
I think it depends on what sort of party it is and the ages concerned (ie a 40th is a good excuse for 80/90s music, whereas a party like New Year that may have a more mixed age may require more general music.
But.... gotta have:
Come on Eileen
Its Raining Men
Relight My Fire (with Lulu) - ps I
AM Lulu when that comes on lol
Shake yr Tail Feathers (not sure what its actually called)
The Twist (or a variant thereof)
Rock DJ
Showing my age here with these suggestions, but post more info on what type of party and what ages, and I'll think of loads more ........
I thinks its also important to play certain music at the right "time" during the party - ie the later it gets the more "dancy" and fun the music needs to be imo
When I had my 40th (years ago now
) I didnt have a dj, I just did about 8 cds (didnt even have an ipod back then lol), numbered them, and no-one was allowed to interfere. It must have been good, because those cds got lent out to about 6 other people who were having parties and wanted to borrow them! Mind you, I spent HOURS and HOURS sorting the playlist, listening to which songs worked with others and getting the timing right (11pm - 3am was the most dynamic music of course) tht
