Can anyone please tell me what Party Nails or Weekend Nails are and how to apply these. Also any information on how long they should last - my understanding is that girls like these sorts of nails for their prom nights.
I've just passed my Nail Tech course and may be working in my girlfriends salon that has had alot of enquirys about Party Nails.:)

Party Nails are normally stick on nails (also called express nails sometimes). Not normally recommended but lots of salons do offer them as a cheaper and faster alternative to extensions and for clients who only want the extensions for a special event.

Some people use traditional stick on nails (like you could but from a chemist) where as other use normal tips and blend them in and then varnish.

Hope this helps.

For " party nails " I adhere tips to the client, blend , put a layer of nail adhesive over the nail, buff for a smooth surface, then apply polish of her choice. You can also use white tips for a pink and white look. ( At least this is how I do it )

Correct me if im wrong but my understanding of weekend nails were just tips being applied and blended with either a thin layer of gel/acrylic applied or just painted. Basically they just last for the 'weekend'.

Thanks - that helps heaps. I'll find a model now to give it a try.

When i did weekend/party nails i applied the tip and blended if needed, shaped and filed to desired length then placed a thin layer of gel over and cured.

Some wanted polish over and some left them as they was. I never guaranteed them to last longer than 2/3 days but the majority lasted well into a week.

How much would you charge for this??

I did a set of weekend nails on myself last weekend as I was going to a dinner dance. I don't normally wear enhancements due to all the massage I do and needing my nails short. However for the dinner dance which had a red white and black theme I put on some gorgeous tallons. I blended velocity clear tips and made them long and pointed and painted them in CND Candy Apple. They looked lush and 'naughty'. My hubby thought some nail art would be good so I sweeped some CND Voodoo in a curve down the edge and followed the same sweep line with silver glitter... they did look the bizz. I got loads of complements.

ANYWAY>.. I was fearsome of them 'popping' off during the evening with only some gelbond and nail polish to keep them on but they didn't .. they were good and strong. In the morning I soaked them off (took 5 mins tops) as I couldnt cope with the length.

There was no damage to my natural nails.. and overall I was pleased with them. I would do it again if I was going somewhere special.

I wouldnt fancy just having the whole stick on nails, I did propper prep when I put mine on so felt easy about them being reduced in pathagens before placement. Stickon nails are renouned for greenies. uggh!

I guess price all depends on the area you are in and if there is any other salons near by that offer the service also.

When i worked in the salon we charged £15 as the salon up the road charged £17.50.

They go down a treat come june/july when all the girls want to look good for their proms.
Offer them as a prom package with a spray tan £30, thats what i did and i was fully booked on this alone for weeks.

As jen said, if you are placing a thin layer of gel or resin over you must do a thorough prep as if doing a full set of enhancements. HTH

i was also taught to prep the nail as usual, apply a tip of there choice eg natural, white then blend if needed, cut and shape to desired length and then just paint a varnish over the top. some geeks would apply a thin layer of gel or even fibreglass over the top so there are many different ways of offering this service.
i personally dont like to wear them as i just feel consious that they will just come off all the time or even worse that they will take my nail with them.but i do think they are a good idea for someone whos got a special occasion and they cant have extensions becuase of there job.:)

Party nails can be either the tips on and blended down, with polish over top. Also can be a full contact tip like Formation, shaped to fit in cuticle area and painted or Nail art on, you would then stick the whole tip on with gelbond (like the stick ons you can buy at chemist) You can make up these sets in advance and have them on show for your clients. To remove the best way is to debulk first and soak off. Always charge for the soak off in initial price to make sure they return and look after their nails.
Good luck Channie chat soon

Oh thanks Leita!!! I've done 4 spamanicures and a rebalance since. Everyone absolutely loves the mani's and my rebalance was ok - a little long though. My model came back with two chipped tips - so I sculpted on a form and was quiet impressed. Is that what I would do for a chipped tip?

most impressed with your confidence on scultping, it is the only way to learn and be able to fix those little chipped bits. Also well done on the mani's, they most definelty are quite popular in Perth at the moment. Remember those special touches.......
Well done Channie keep it up oxoxoxoxoxo
