Morning everyone x

I am looking to continue my training and do the CND Spa Mani & Pedi course later in the year.

What equipment do you use in your home salon?
I'm not mobile anymore, but the equipment used for mobile could be suitable for a home salon to?

I have seen a great Pedicure 'station' which has a gas lift chair, foot bath & leg rest and stool. From Salonserve, which came in the leaflets with Professional Beauty this month.

I have been wondering what I would need to put down on my wish list and have a look at at Excel.

I think it depends on the space you are going to have and the budget available for expending into pedicures Bev.

The gas lift chairs are great (I use one in the salon) but I certainly dont have the space for these larger chairs when doing pedicures from home. At home when doing pedicures I use a smaller pedi stool as shown below.

Are you doing any pedicures at the minute?

If pedicures form a substantial part of your salon business i would not hesitate to invest in a 'proper set up' ... and it wouldn't be for the client so much as for ME.

To me there is nothing more incomfortable (and potentially harmful to yourbody) than performing this treament when not sitting both comfortably and at the right height and with your equipment in the right place!! Nightmare.

mornin Bev!

I have seen those too, they look great but I cant afford one at the moment, so I use a low-down stool, a foot spa, lots of towels, and I have a little wheeled trolly with all my bits on, its actually two-tiered, the size of a large dinner plate, and I believe it started its life off as some kind of mobility equipment, the sort of things that the elderly or less mobile use.

Sounds daft but it works for me! my stool that i sit on is one of those little step-stools, it's easy to wipe down and keep clean xxx

Well, that's exactly my thoughts too! I'm not as young and lithe as I used to be, so getting up & down off low things is an issue to me:lol:, plus I often have a dodgy back so I have to be sitting comfortably, the client is not my first consideration here, I am lol! They come a close 2nd lol!
I currently have a 12ft x 12 ft conservatory so I can make the space.

My main concern is being comfortable!

I don't offer pedi's at the moment.

Have you got a picture of the one you are thinking of?

I have thrown my salonserve leaflet away.

Morning Hayley!

I can't afford one either at the moment, but I thought they looked the more comfortable option for an old crinkley like me!

I've thought about your method, but I can see an awful lot of bending and hunching down for me - my tum gets in the way you know!

This is the exact same one as Salonserve who sell for £100 less than Sally's

They do a pedi package including this unit, plus a stool which looks nice.

That is very similar to the one I use in the salon. Do you know if the bowl is removable off the base? When I am using the stool to polish the nails I remove the pedi bowl so the client can put their feet on the base and keep them dry without worrying about the bowl.

What stool will you use to sit on. My experience is that you need to lower your chair so you are at the right height with the feet. The stool that I showed in the picture is about the height you need to be so your back is comfortable and is considerably cheaper from therapy 2000.

They also have another type that is a cheaper alternative too although I think the stool looks a little high as it is but looks like it comes lower:

I do ALOT of Pedicures and I use the stool that Theresa put a pic of! The client sits on a gas lift chair, I find the stool fab, I hated it at first, just remember to tell your clients to relax their legs, i.e when you go to lift their leg make sure you lift it not them!
As soon as they are relaxed it becomes a doddle to move their leg so you can work the calf.

Another heads up is that I would get an apron!! I got a fair bit of product on my trousers when I first started, so I bought an apron from CND (S2). :green:

xxxxx:hug:

I think that kind of thing looks perfect for use in a home salon - unless you're planning to many mobile ones? It looks the part too!

Good luck!

Teresa,

Are you bent over doing pedi's with this type of stool. I have my clients in a recliner chair and sometimes if they don't go all the way back I have them on the lower level and my poor back.

At the moment I don't do many in one day but I will have to look into something soon to save my back!

I do my pedis with my client laying down on the beauty bed. When they first arrive, I get them to sit at a normal chair to soak, then they lay on the bed for the rest of the treatment.

I find this to be more comfortable for the client, they can just lay back and relax, they don't have to worry about moving their legs around during the treatment.

It's also very comfortable for me, I have my stool at the end of the bed and I can move around the feet as I need to.

I do alot of pedis with this setup, they make up about 80% of my business, and my clients absolutely love it.

Alpina,

I have done it the way you do it a few times, but I find I have to move my stuff into the other room. It seems to be kinder to my back I must say!

My waxing bed is not very wide and they have really no where to place their hands, so they lay there with their arms folded on their chest.

Yes, very true! at college, the set up is awful and we just both sit on chairs (obviously uncomfortable ones!) and it really hurts my back holding the foot on my lap!. Will definately be buying one of those stools with the leg lift thingy! :)
