Hi I have just finished my nvq level 2 in beauty and will be renting a room in a hair salon from the mid to end of may. At college we used the phd waxing system but also were shown how to use pot & spatula method.
From what i can see phd would be far too expensive to use for the prices i will be charging due to staying competitive in a busy town centre location with lots of beauty salons nearby so have bought pot & spatula.
Now I did some work experience in a salon two weeks ago and the therapist used clean & easy roller wax method is it any good and would it be of comparable cost to phd?

Sorry for rambling on and any views welcome

Thanks in advance
Kerrie :D

Hi there
I have been using hive roller wax system for about a year now whick i found great and easy to use and it is not to expensive either which is good but this type of wax is not very good for bikini waxing, So i have desided to swith to perron rigot pot wax using warm for legs etc and hot wax for bikini and more intimate wax (doing this course with Kim Lawless).
So personally i think it depends on what type of waxing you will be doing xxx

Thankyou for your reply, From what the salon owner has said it is mostly eyebrows with the odd underarm and leg wax although bikini waxing is on my price lists too so maybe an idea to have a small wax pot for bikinis and a roller for everything else xx

If you like the roller wax then yes I think it's a good answer for you. I've not used the roller wax so can't comment on it, but I do use PR hot wax and love it. I have the babyliss double wax pot, one side warm and the other hot. I have found it's big enough for the hot wax side of things but I wish I'd bought the hive 1000c for the warm wax.
Good luck and remember to factor in your own wages for your price list, there is no point in you being busy all day if at the end of the week you can't afford to eat:)
Better to be busy because you are the best then because you are the cheepest.:wink2:

For me it has to be pot and spatula everytime and have a babylisss double heater with strip wax in both sides and 2 x 1000cc hive heaters for my non-strip (I do a LOT of waxing) but a lot depends on how confident you are with this method. I would suggest though that if you are going to do bikinis, eyebrows, facial waxing it might be worth your while getting yourself on a non-strip waxing course (I have a contact in your neck of the woods if you are interested).

For leg and underarm waxing I would say that you will be fine with a roller wax system, it is just not my preferred method.

I agree with Joe90, roller is ok for legs, but it is simply not versatile enough for all body parts. Spatulas can be used everywhere!

Thankyou all for your replies I am considering getting the roller system for legs and pot & spatula for everything else.
Joe90 I would be extremely greatful for those contact details

I have both and we use roller for legs and arms as it saves sooo much time!
The pot is used for areas like underarm, bikini and eyebrow/lip waxes.
