I was doing a little scouting around the internets this morning to see who else offers treatments similar to mine. I was rather surprised to see that quite a few people don't actually put their prices on their sites, and wondered who here doesn't, and what their rationale for that is.
As a punter if I'm looking for a service I want to know everything about it, including the price. If I can't see a price then I tend to pass them by and find another site which does detail this.
What say you?
Should we always put our prices on the net? Is there a case for not?
I'd be interested to hear the answers!

I'm very much the same as you, If I dont see a price I would assume that it was too expensive and go elsewhere, although people may think it makes people want to come and ask you the prices so they are more likely to come to you?

I know one of my friends doesnt put prices on her site as she is worried competion may outprice her, but I say if people like you and your service, they wont go elsewhere =]

xx

My website seems to get a lot of traffic and I get a lot of clients from it...and I have a lot of them saying - I see that your pedicure is £xx and you offer this this and this with it...its a bit like window shopping. I've had a few people say that the openess and ease of information on the website is whhat makes them book. :D xx

Whats the point in not having it on there? So what if your competition sees it? Its not just the price of the treatment that entices clients. xx

I have a very detailled website and have always included my prices...
For treatments that have a pricing structure I include a description so that people know exactly whats incuded with each option.

When I am looking for something on the internet I want to know exactly what I am getting and how much it is going to cost....this also saves any embarrasment on the clients part.

xx

I would be very surprised *not* to see prices on a salon's/therapist's website; if a salon is going to display their treatment menu on the Web then it makes sense to display prices too - as long as they are kept up to date!

I also display my prices on my website but I think the rationale for not displaying them is for people to phone & enquire about what you do. Price should not really be the indicator of why people choose to buy from you instead of the person down the road.

I have been to some marketing seminars lately and they are recommend not to put your prices on the website ??? I have my prices outlined as I personnaly like to know what the price is .

I'm not sure which is better though still thinking about this one......

I have my prices on my web site. I would be annoyed if I couldn't find prices.
Someone said to me to take them off as he thought it would make me more exclusive. I don't see it myself.

Another for prices on. I click the little red cross at the top of the page when the site hasn't got them. It's easier to look at a site that does x

I put prices on mine, we have price lists in salon for clients to take so I cant see what there is to be coy about.

Price lists all the way. I'm one of those that will ignore the site if i can't find the price.

TBH i think that we are all pretty lazy nowadays and we want things instantly.

People don't want to phone up different salons to get their prices and some of them feel a bit intimidated, like they can't ring up and ask questions unless they are booking an appointment.

These places must think they appear more exclusive or impressive but i don't agree. If a clothes shop doesn't have prices i just think it is really expensive.

yes price list on my site too, what's the point if you can't compare on everything, including price.

The only reason I can think of for not including prices is if you have a very tiny website with only a few pages.

Otherwise - what's the point of having a website with no prices?? I don't get it? Exclusivity . . . PAH!! what a load of tosh!

The more info the better, I think ( so long as it doesn't end up looking like a dog's dinner - which could make potential clients bounce off it ).

I don't have prices on my website for therapies as I rent rooms in 2 towns and the prices are different.

I am working towards bringing the prices together but one is in a busy town, I have to pay for parking and my rent is higher, the second room is in a small pit village and my rent is low, I park for free and its a lot nearer to home.

Any suggestions on how to get around this?

Eg Body massage in room no.1 is £27 and in room no.2 is £25

OK I've been converted. Currently I don't have prices on my website, but having read this I have decided to ask my webman (person) to put them on at my next price increase in March. Interesting post.

For me prices are essential too! It makes me think the salon likes to keep changing them if they are not there. Jennette you are doing the right thing!

Two different websites maybe?

Prices all the way for me too. When I come across a website that doesn't have prices I bypass it.

The simplest way around that would be to put "from £25 to £27" on your price list... then put a note at the bottom saying that the higher price will be charged at the treatment room in town...

I think prices need to be on a website - I think it would put prospective clients off otherwise.

Regarding Hippy Chicks question - I personally would have a drop down menu one for location a and one for location b. I do not see a reason to explain different prices. Other than that is to have 2 websites.
