Hi everyone,

What does every1 use? buff off or soak off gel?

And what are the pros and cons of buff off gel?

Am just investigating at the mo!

Thanks for your help!

Have to agree with Angie.
When i decided to train in gel i was all for soak off gel and was going to do a BIO course but then at the last minute decided on a conversion to gel with NSI as that was who i initialy did my acrylic training with.

Im so glad I did now as its fab, files away real easy and adds very little time on to a service when removing.

I was put off the buff off gel while still a 'client' by having them removed. The first time I found quite uncomfortable and after removal my cuticles and nail plate was very sore in places. I decided it must have been a poor technician and went elsewhere the second time. Unfortunately, it happened again the second time and I have never worn or applied buff off gel again. I am quite happy with the soak off types. They tend not to be so hard-wearing on certain clients but are so much kinder to the nail when you need to remove.

On saying this, I would suggest you try both types on yourself - if you are then confident of safe and effective removal (as some techs clearly are) then go for whichever looks nicest and lasts longest!

All the best,
Hazel

I wish you'd been able to find a gel technician who knew what they were doing regarding removal of the buff off gel, it wouldn't have put you off and you would have been able to know for yourself that it can (and should) be removed perfectly safely and without any pain or discomfort.
I disagree that soak off gels are kinder to the natural nail when removing, if the technician is trained to a high standard and knows what they're doing then buff off gels don't cause any damage to the natural nails, kindness of product doesn't come into it.

For me i prefer buff off gels to soak off ones.

Reasons are:
they have more strength and longevity,
they have better clarity, (IMHO)
just seem to wear better.

If a client wants the gel removed, i only thin it right down so that it will grow off naturally without causing problems, plus you don't have any danger of filing the nail plate or causing damage. Training helps with these issues and experience.

I know some people love soak off gels, it is a personal preference.

Does anyone know what the chemical/technical diffrence is on the to gels?? I have been thinking about that a great deal of time??
