Hello,

Just to let you kow, I'm new at this!

I just sprayed a very fair skinned client with the Tantrick 8% solution (kindly sent to me by Collin). I'm using an airbrush gun. I find that the tan did not show at all and am wondering if i did it right! I know it takes time to develop but I thought the bronzer would show.

Keep in mind that I was trained with a clear solution (Soladerm) that has no guide color so I'm not sure what it should look like on a client when a liquid with a guide she has been sprayed!

Do you think I sprayed too little, I played it safe and used the "less is more" motto! But maybe I really sprayed too little.

What do you experienced tanners think?

I told her I would come spray her again tomorrow if it's not enough, but I wanted to get your opinions first.

Thank you,
Marie

Hi Marie,
glad you have given things a go and you certainly are asking the right questions.
Now don't you go worying about the outcome of the tan just yet as some people can take up to 24 hrs to develope.
So wait and see the client and make your mind up then.
You are fully doing the right thing in less is more at first...far better to underspray than to overspray and make a hash of it...much more difficult to clean up than to apply another aplication.

I wager your customer will be happy with the outcome once it has fully developed

Did you shake it up well before you started to spray? you should be able to see the guide colour when you are spraying but just because you couldn't doesnt necessarily mean it wont develop into a nice tan... I like to be able to see where I have sprayed though...

Thanks for your replies, they give me confidence that I'm on the right track!

I did shake up the bottle before application.

As it turns out, I saw my client this morning and there was a difference in her skin tone. I did however spray her one more time to even it out and to try to make it a little darker (she is incedibly white to begin with!). She is a neighbor so it will be easy for me to drop by tomorrow to take a look.

All in all she was happy to have some colour and that's what counts. This is a learning process for me and I have to get the hang of spraying!

I do plan to eventually switch from airbrush to an hvlp machine after all the posts I have read about them!

well done you..I suspected it was a case that the clients tan hadnt had sufficient time to develope....also maybe you did underspray ..which is a good thing when your sarting out...

What amount of liquid did you use on the initial spray ?.

Untill you get into high volume spraying the airbrush system you have is more than suitable for the job you are doing...in fact with an airbrush you can "define" body features better than with an HVLP which most people choose simply because its far quicker than the airbrush system.

Keep up with the good work and it really wont be long before your an expert.....sometimes learning the hard way can turn you out as being a highly perficiant spraytan tec

Hi Collin!

I only did her legs as she requested. I used up about one third of the 8%sample bottle you sent me for the first spray yesterday and another third this morning...

What do you think? Did I spray too little the first time?

Do you know I dont recall what sample bottles I sent you...what size was the bottle??

They were small, I would guess they are about 2 ounces (60 ml) per bottle...So I would estimate I sprayed about 20 ml on her legs the first time.

sounds like more than enough to me, I only use 20 - 25ml for a full body spray and I spray twice!

Ahh that would be a 50ml so at a guess you would have used around15ml.

For a full body that is to little -dependant on how your gun is set(I.E. overspray issues) you should be using between 25-40ml per full body.

We tend to find that inexperianced spraytanners use more than those that have fully developed their technique..(like Sherrie says above)

Even for just the lower body with a customer who is exceptionally pale its probably also not enough.

Remember very pale individuals or "first time" tanners may require a little more solution than a regular customer.

You are realy aproaching this in the right way given the situation though so very well done....

on your next spray open the gun a little or alternativley move across the body a little slower and target using at least 25ml...

if this is still not dark enough crank it up a bit more till your model /you are happy with the results.

When youve reached that point and done a few more you should be ready to start on some paying customers..thats when the fun really begins:hug:

OK thank you, so I'm on the right track! I used circular motions and did go maybe a little too fast as to not do "spots" on her legs, I'll go slower next time.

I appreciate all your advice and will put it to good use!

You certainly are it's simply a case now that you keep doing what your doing...it is a shame we cant get you into one of our trainers but I am confident we can achieve things at this distance and that you will become perficiant.

You will be making many mistakes but dont let them dent your confidence and learn by them.

keep asking questions here on this site and one way or another we will all get you there

if it's any help to you I will happily send you a Tantrick training manual out to you for further guidence purposes

Some great advice from Collin there. I have both an airbrush and a HVLP and tbh, I far prefer my airbrush! It just fels more refined and once you are used to it, its so easy to use. Definition is a real plus to a lot of customers....I have customers that come to me, not just because they like the colour, but because I can actually make their thighs look slimmer, or their ****s look bigger! You can't really do this with an HVLP.

One more thing worth checking with your airbrush is that you don't have the pressure set to high.....for Tantrick solutions, which are quite light and fine, you need it down at about 10psi working pressure, otherwise the solution will bounce straight back ff the skin. Another reason that you may not see much colour initially. Lower pressure will also help use less solution too!

Perfect (as usual) comments..

The airbrush can most certainly allow contures of the body to be enhanced whereas the HVLP isn't so refined.

The other thing about the airbrush is that it does vaporise the airborne particles more ...this can create the need to alter the application method somewhat and certainly adequate extraction is a must.

The Tantrick origional solutions are light however the liquid that is particulary suited to an airbrush is the new E.O.S and A.G.

If it is that you prefer a good initial colour dye to facilitate seeing better where you are applying then the Autumn Gold has a lot more in it.

Maybe this is the better option for you and if you do wish to receive a training manual I would be happy to also pop in an A.G. sample for you to have a go with to see how you get on
